The launch of Super King

E-rickshaw manufacturer Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles (GEM) has announced that it would invest $5 million in 2019 to increase its production capacity.
 
The announcement was made during the launch of Super King, a premium electric auto-rickshaw at the eighth eco-friendly electric vehicles expo, EV Expo 2018, in New Delhi on December 21.
 
The vehicle was launched by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises, Mr Anant Geete. 
 
The company, which currently has a production capacity of 40,000 e-rickshaws annually has recently received an order for 500 e-rickshaw’s from Essel Infratech and was also the first Indian company to export e-rickshaws to Africa – 250 vehicles that were gifted by the Government of India to the Senegal Government.
 
Commenting on the launch of Super King, Mr. Zafar Equbal, CEO of Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., said, “GEM believes in innovation and we are pioneers in the electric vehicle space in India.. Since our foray into e-rickshaw space, GEM has emerged has the leader in the sector and our products are available through our 150 dealers across the country. We are adding an additional 200 dealers in the coming year and we expect our products to be available to an even wider consumer set”.
 
A press release by the company said Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles has a large team of experts comprising electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and other industry professionals. All its vehicles are manufactured using automotive industry equipment and processes by an accomplished team of experts. Each of these vehicles undergo rigorous quality checks to ensure that the quality of the product meets industry-best and predefined quality standards.
