Mr. Arvind Balaji, President, ACMA

Mr Arvind Balaji, President, ACMA, in an interview talks to Autoguide about the key highlights of 13th Auto Expo Components Show
How big is the 13th Auto Expo Components Show from the previous edition? How will it be different from its earlier edition?
Auto Expo 2016 is one of the most awaited automotive shows in this part of the world. As in the previous edition in 2014, this year too the Components show and the Motor show will be held at different venues. The Components Show will be held at Pragati Maidan from 4-7 February, 2016 while the Motor Show will be at the Greater Noida Expo Centre.
This time round the Components expo will be spread across 80,000 sqm in 18 halls, housing 1500 exhibitors which includes 900 domestic and 600 international exhibitors. That apart, eight exclusive pavilions from China, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and UK will showcase their latest auto components and accessories for the OE and Aftermarket.
Besides these, dedicated pavilions for bearings and garage equipment, the Asli-Naqli show which is ACMA’s campaign against counterfeit products, live demonstrations of advanced technologies, contest for Engineering Students called ‘Passion for Innovation’ and focused conferences and seminars have been organised.
Any key highlight or display, which will be seen at Auto Expo Components Show 2016?
Yes, this year we have introduced an Innovation Pavilion, which will be spread over an area of 100 square meters in Hall 7. The Pavilion will be displaying components that are designed, developed and validated in India. The primary objective of this pavilion is to showcase the product development prowess of the component sector as also help deepen the automotive value chain in the country.
At the Innovation Pavilion the visitors can expect a whole range of specialised auto components designed and developed locally such as light weight fire resistant PUF sound insulation for engine room, fire resistant acoustical barrier, composite parts, gear shifters, electro magnetic retarder, SGM starter motor, clutch booster, auto adjuster drum brake for commercial vehicles, high stress parabolic springs, twin compressor motor, conversion from cast iron to aluminium- wheel for army tanks and many more.
What is the main expectation that automotive component manufacturers have from Auto Expo Components Show 2016?
This year the Auto Expo 2016 Components - is themed ‘Automotive Technologies that Drive the World’ with specific focus on new technologies, safety and production efficiency. The Component Expo is purely a B2B show that will be an ideal platform to hold discussions and network with OEMs, component manufacturers, the aftermarket distributers, the decision makers, the industry professional and other stakeholders on trending topics such as emission control, safety and electric mobility.
The Component Expo has always been the preferred platform for launch of new products / technologies making it a ‘not to miss opportunity’ by purchase and product development teams.
That apart, I hope that the displays at the Auto Expo will not only provide an exposure to the Indian industry on the latest and best technologies but will also provide them an opportunity to strike collaborations to develop such technologies indigenously.
