Unveils new Vitara Brezza, Ignis; showcases Jimny

Maruti Suzuki’s ‘Mission Green Million’ theme at the just-concluded Auto Expo 2020 – The Motor Show communicated the company’s approach towards providing customers with realistic sustainable mobility solutions.
Under Mission Green Million, the company aims to manufacture and sell the next million green vehicles at a much faster pace. The market leader plans to offer customers the choice of multiple powertrains such as CNG, hybrids and electric as it is committed to providing them with vehicles which are affordable and highly fuel-efficient. This, according to the company, can be achieved by focusing on the multiple technologies.
At the Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki showcased all future technology solutions for achieving its Mission Green Million:  S-CNG, Strong Hybrid and Concept FUTURO-e – a design study for the next generation mobility solutions.
Maruti Suzuki has been carrying out a nation-wide field testing of prototype electric vehicles. The extensive real-life usage of the vehicles in multiple terrains and climatic conditions has helped the company get valuable insights. Testing of these vehicles is helping to gather critical inputs based on actual usage and will help it to develop a reliable and suitable electric vehicle for Indian market.
Even as the EV dream is taking shape with all the automakers doing their best to create an entire ecosystem, Maruti also underscores the need to encourage fuel-efficient alternate powertrain technologies, including strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid and CNG vehicles.
All this was sufficiently evident at the company’s offerings at the expo. While on the first day of the Motor show it unveiled the all-new Vitara Brezza equipped with 1.5-lite K-series BS-VI petrol engine, the next day it came up with the new Ignis. The company also showcased the fourth-generation Japan model of Suzuki Jimny at the auto extravaganza.
The latest version of compact SUV Vitara Brezza offers enhanced sportiness, bolder looks, stronger stance, premium interiors and a host of new features. Offering a complete package of power, convenience, comfort and premium-ness, the new Vitara Brezza ensures an enhanced driving experience for customers.
Presenting the new Vitara Brezza, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Vitara Brezza created a disruption amongst compact SUVs. Offering a new dual-tone design, class-leading features, outstanding fuel-efficiency and personalisation options, Vitara Brezza quickly emerged as a segment leader. Keeping up with its strong, urban and premium appeal, the all-new Vitara Brezza is bolder, sportier and more powerful.”
The all-new Vitara Brezza is powered by the bigger and powerful 1.5-litre K-s
eries BS6 petrol engine. The new engine delivers a peak power of 77KW@6000 rpm with a top end torque of 138Nm@4400rpm leading to deliver a peppy driving experience.
The front and rear fascia of Vitara Brezza has been re-crafted to give it a premium and impactful road presence. The sporty character of the new Vitara Brezza is emphasised by three new glamorous dual tone body colour options. The powerful and stylish exterior design of Vitara Brezza is complemented by its premium interiors.
The new Ignis, unveiled at the Expo, exudes an SUV design with imposing front fascia, wide and tough rear appearance and high seating position. Adding to its SUV character are the striking rear spoiler and roof rails. This combination of tough design, high seating position and high ground clearance makes the new Ignis the perfect compact urban SUV.
Adding to the delight are its comfortable and spacious interiors, latest safety features and best-in-class driving capabilities and manoeuvrability. The new Ignis is powered by 1.2-lite BSVI-compliant petrol engine.
Speaking at the launch of Ignis, Mr. Ayukawa said, “Ignis enjoys a special place in the Maruti Suzuki Nexa portfolio and has been appreciated for its peppy drivability and spacious interiors. We have recognised an increasing preference for feature loaded cars that have SUV-like high seating position and dominant road presence. We are confident that the all-new Ignis with its SUV design and spacious interiors will appeal to the customers.”
The unique design of new Ignis has been strengthened by incorporating SUV design elements. The new front grille with U-shaped motif and bold skid plate detailing on bumpers give it a stable stance. High seating position, rear fascia with tough and wide appearance, coupled with roof rails and spoiler enhance its SUV character.
The new Ignis is available with manual and auto gear shift transmission options. The SUV also offers two premium customisation options - Acropolis and Scorcher theme. In addition to these customisation options the new IGNIS comes with three new dual tone options.
What added hugely to the excitement at Maruti pavilion was the showcasing of Japan model of Suzuki Jimny, the ‘authentic off-roader’, all-terrain vehicle which has a legacy of over 50 years.
Speaking about Jimny, Mr. Ayukawa said, “Suzuki Jimny with its compact design and superb off-road capabilities is an engineering marvel and speaks volumes about Suzuki’s engineering capabilities.”
He added, “The vehicle has been showcased at Auto Expo to assess response of the Indian consumers to the product.”
Designed for customers who demand a stylish vehicle with robust off-road performance, Jimny is built on a tough and compact platform offering excellent maneuverability. A true off-road vehicle, the Suzuki Jimny has proven to be reliable and strong despite its compact footprint, becoming Suzuki’s flagship model across 194 countries and regions.
