Mr Shashank Srivastava

Maruti Suzuki India has appointed Mr Shashank Srivastava as the new head of sales and marketing with immediate effect, according to a report carried by ETAuto.

Mr Srivastava will replace senior ED Mr Randhir Singh Kalsi who is slated to retire in a few months and is likely to take an advisory role.

“The decision was taken during company’s national conference organised in Kochi,” a highly placed industry source told the media platform.

Mr Kalsi was made the head of sales & marketing after Mr Mayank Pareek quit MSIL in 2014 and joined Tata Motors. Mr Srivastava comes with a strong experience in the sales & marketing in India and is currently Executive Director, international marketing with the carmaker.

Mr Srivastava had served as Chief General Manager and second in command in the sales and marketing till 2012. He spent his entire career in the same vertical. He had joined the company straight after an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad.

Mr Kalsi, an engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, joined Maruti in 1984 after a stint at the then Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (now Tata Motors).

In a related development, ET Auto said, Maruti Suzuki has created a new management tier by rejigging its top cadre to ensure continuity as it prepares for the new partnership with Toyota and readies for the new emission norms by 2020.

The newly formed executive board includes five Indian executives under the role of a senior executive officer from critical functions of R&D, production, sales and marketing, finance and HR along with a Japanese director.

The purpose of this executive board will not only be tracking the dynamic changes in the Indian automotive industry but also become a bridge between Suzuki and external shareholders. The executive board will play a key strategic role in defining the long-term roadmap for Maruti Suzuki and help in executing the Toyota Suzuki partnership in the Indian market.

Mr CV Raman, senior executive officer for R&D, Mr Rajiv Gandhi, senior executive officer for Production, Mr RS Kalsi, Mr Ajay Seth and Mr Rajesh Uppal are part of this executive board. The Japanese director on the executive board is Mr K Yamaguchi.
