Honda unveils first Electric Motorcycle, the WN7, at EICMA 2025

Introducing the Honda WN7 — Honda’s first electric motorcycle, unveiled at EICMA 2025. With a 50 kW motor, 140 km range, frameless chassis, and advanced riding features like Deceleration Selector and Walking Speed Mode, the WN7 delivers a quiet, liberating ride for city streets and open roads.

Honda has unveiled its first electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7, at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy, marking a significant step in the company’s global electrification strategy.

Development Concept: “Be the Wind”

The WN7, a naked electric motorcycle in Honda’s FUN category, embodies the development concept “Be the Wind”, offering riders a quiet, liberating experience unique to electric vehicles. Unlike conventional ICE motorcycles, riders can enjoy the natural sounds of their surroundings—conversations, rustling leaves, and city ambiance—while experiencing smooth yet powerful torque acceleration and agile handling.

Design Highlights

Honda has focused on combining functionality with style. The WN7 features a smooth, seamless surface in rider-contact areas and a distinctive, powerful silhouette. Its signature horizontal light bar will serve as the design identity for future Honda electric motorcycles. A black-based body with gold accents introduces a dedicated colour theme that will carry across Honda’s global EV lineup.

Frameless Chassis

The WN7 adopts a frameless structure, using a centrally positioned aluminum battery as part of the main frame. The head pipe and rear pivot bracket connect directly to the power unit, reducing weight, enabling a slim, compact design, and improving mass centralization for agile handling.

Integrated Motor-Inverter Unit

Powered by a compact, water-cooled motor with integrated inverter, the WN7 delivers 50 kW of power (equivalent to a 600cc ICE bike) and 100 Nm of torque (comparable to a 1000cc ICE motorcycle). Power is transmitted via a new gearbox to a belt-drive system, ensuring quiet, efficient operation suitable for both city and highway riding.

Battery and Charging

The WN7 comes with a 9.3 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery supporting CCS2 fast charging and Type 2 standard charging. Fast charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 30 minutes, while normal charging from 0% to 100% takes under 2.4 hours. The bike offers a 140 km cruising range (WMTC mode) on a full charge.

Advanced Riding Features

The WN7 includes regenerative braking and a Deceleration Selector, allowing riders to adjust braking intensity for smooth low-speed control or a gliding feel. A Walking Speed Mode enables precise maneuvering in tight urban spaces, making parking and low-speed navigation easier.

Production and Global Launch

The Honda WN7 will be manufactured at Honda’s Kumamoto Factory, the company’s global motorcycle production hub. It will be launched sequentially in markets leading the electrification shift, supporting Honda’s push to accelerate global motorcycle electrification.
