Relux Electric partners with Greater Chennai Corporation to launch nine EV charging stations across the city

All nine EV charging stations in Chennai will be operational by December 2025, each covering 500 sq. ft., supporting multiple vehicles simultaneously, and offering fast-charging for cars. The initiative supports Tamil Nadu’s goal to expand EV infrastructure and promote sustainable, low-emission transportation.

Relux Electric Private Limited, one of India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure providers, has partnered with Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to set up nine new EV charging stations at government-owned locations across Chennai.

This initiative marks the first phase of Tamil Nadu’s clean mobility drive, following TNGECL’s collaboration with Relux Electric to install 500 EV charging stations across the state. Unlike existing facilities, the upcoming stations will be strategically placed in easily accessible public areas, ensuring convenient and efficient charging for EV users across the city.

By expanding Chennai’s EV charging infrastructure, Relux Electric and GCC aim to promote sustainable mobility and support the adoption of electric vehicles in urban India.

Through this collaboration with Relux Electric and TNGECL, we seek to further the city’s transition towards sustainable and environment-friendly mobility. The initiative is aimed at facilitating the easy availability of reliable EV charging stations across Chennai’s prominent public spaces, thereby encouraging adoption of green transport. This effort is in line with the Corporation’s continued commitment to promoting cleaner, energy-efficient urban infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.”, said an official from Greater Chennai Corporation.

The nine EV charging station will be setup at prominent public locations, including Marina Beach Parking, Besant Nagar Beach Parking, NageswaraRao Park (Mylapore), Bougainvillea Park (Anna Nagar), Semmozhi Poonga (Teynampet), Corporation Playground Parking (T.Nagar), Somasundaram Park (T Nagar), Mangal Lake Park (Ambattur) and Ashtalakshmi Temple Parking (Besant Nagar).

“We are proud to be part of Chennai’s shift towards sustainable urban mobility. Our advanced EV charging infrastructure is designed to offer fast, reliable, and user-friendly charging experiences that meet global standards. With this partnership with GCC and TNGECL, we aim to build public confidence in electric vehicles and support the city’s broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and creating a greener Chennai”, said Dr. Karthikeyan S., Managing Director, Relux Electric Private Limited.

All nine charging stations will become functional before December 2025, each station will be spread across an area of approximately 500 sqft., equipped to accommodate two cars and three two-wheelers simultaneously, and will feature fast-charging facilities for four-wheelers.

This initiative aligns with the state’s vision to expand EV infrastructure, reduce carbon emissions, and promote cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
