Uber has announced plans to significantly expand its premium mobility service, Uber Black, with the fleet set to double in size by 2026. The move underscores Uber’s growing focus on the premium ride-hailing segment, catering to customers who prioritise comfort, reliability, and elevated service standards.
Currently operating in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, Uber Black offers high-end vehicles driven by top-rated chauffeurs, delivering a refined and dependable travel experience. Positioned as the “business class of the back seat,” the service is tailored for riders seeking superior comfort and personalised service.
Enhancing the premium experience further, Uber Black is also available through dedicated Uber Black Zones at select airports. These exclusive pickup areas, designed for seamless and expedited access to luxury rides, are currently operational at Bengaluru Airport (Terminals 1 and 2) and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Terminal 2, P6), reinforcing Uber’s commitment to premium, hassle-free mobility.
To support the expansion of premium supply, Uber announced a Series A investment in Carrum, a fleet management company backed by the CarDekho Group. Carrum has been a trusted fleet partner for Uber, consistently delivering high-quality vehicles and dependable service on the platform and the investment will help them expand their fleet and scale operations.
Uber also recently rolled out the Reserve feature on Uber Black in Delhi, enabling riders to book premium rides in advance. The new feature will allow riders to pre-book their rides from 2 hours to up to 90 days in advance, adding an additional layer of certainty when they want to ride Uber Black.
Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, “We’re witnessing strong demand for premium mobility in India, driven by riders who value comfort and elevated service standards. Our focus is on continuing to raise the bar on quality and service, while building a platform that delivers value for riders, drivers and fleet partners over the long term.”
Uber also shared strong adoption of Uber One, its membership program in India that offers savings and benefits across multiple modes of mobility available to users across bikes, autos, and cars. More than one million riders in India are already taking advantage of Uber One, highlighting growing takers of Uber’s membership program. Uber One is designed to deliver greater value to frequent riders – making Uber One a smart choice for riders who rely on Uber regularly.
