Toyota to set up new vehicle manufacturing plant in Maharashtra by 2029

The facility, expected to begin production in the first half of 2029, will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and will manufacture a new SUV model for both domestic and export markets.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced plans to establish a new vehicle manufacturing plant in the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashtra as part of its strategy to strengthen its long-term presence in the Indian automotive market.

The upcoming facility is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2029 and will serve both domestic and international markets, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in India and neighbouring regions.

According to the company, the new plant will help enhance production flexibility and enable faster responses to evolving customer demand and market trends. Toyota stated that its growth journey in India has been shaped through strong collaboration with local stakeholders, industry partners, and communities, which continue to play a key role in its expansion plans.

The new manufacturing facility will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and is expected to employ around 2,800 people during the initial phase of operations. The plant will include key manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, painting, and vehicle assembly.

Toyota also confirmed that a new SUV model will be produced at the Bidkin facility. The investment is expected to support the development of India’s automotive ecosystem while contributing to regional economic growth and employment generation.
