
Hyundai Motor India has appointed Gaurav Mathur as Vice-President and Head of Corporate Planning.
Mathur joins Hyundai after spending nearly 22 years with Maruti Suzuki India, where he held a series of leadership roles spanning product planning, innovation, and electric vehicle development. Most recently, he served as Vice-President – EV Development from April 2024 to April 2026, leading electric vehicle programmes from the conceptual stage through to commercial launch.
During his time at Maruti Suzuki, Mathur also played a key role in establishing the company’s innovation lab within its R&D operations and managed multiple EV development initiatives. Over the years, he held various leadership roles including Deputy General Manager, Senior Manager, Manager, Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager.
In his new role at Hyundai Motor India, Mathur will lead corporate planning, business transformation, export growth from India, future mobility initiatives, and innovation programmes, according to a statement shared on LinkedIn.
Commenting on his new role, Mathur said India is increasingly emerging as a global hub for innovation and manufacturing, adding that the focus would be on developing “future-ready capabilities” to support sustainable growth.
Mathur completed the Stanford LEAD Professional Certificate programme in leadership from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2022, with coursework focused on leadership, strategy, finance, analytical thinking, and design-led innovation.
He also holds an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Management Development Institute and completed an international module at ESCP Business School across Turin, Paris, and Berlin campuses.
