
Volkswagen India has unveiled the updated Taigun compact SUV, introducing a wide range of new features, technology upgrades, and design enhancements aimed at strengthening its position in India’s highly competitive compact SUV segment.
The refreshed Taigun brings over 40 new features, including an upgraded infotainment system, enhanced safety package, and improved transmission options across engine variants. One of the key highlights is the introduction of a new 8-speed automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre TSI engine, replacing the earlier unit to offer smoother gear shifts and improved fuel efficiency, particularly in city driving conditions.
Engine and Performance
The updated Taigun continues with two turbo-petrol engine options:
- 1.0-litre TSI engine producing 85 kW of power and 178 Nm of torque
- 1.5-litre TSI engine delivering 110 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox
The 1.5-litre engine also features Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which improves fuel efficiency by automatically deactivating cylinders under light driving conditions without affecting performance.
Variants and Availability
The updated Taigun will be available in multiple trims, including:
- Comfortline
- Highline
- Topline
- GT variants
These options are designed to cater to a broad range of buyers within the compact SUV segment.
Commenting on the update, Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said the new Taigun builds on the model’s strong foundation with sharper styling and meaningful enhancements across key areas.
Features and Technology
The updated Taigun receives several technology upgrades, including:
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster
- Voice assistant powered by cloud-based AI
- Integrated app ecosystem with built-in applications
- Connected car technology
- Premium sound system
- Full LED lighting setup
These additions aim to enhance connectivity, convenience, and the overall user experience.
Design and Comfort Enhancements
The refreshed Taigun also gets cosmetic updates, including redesigned front and rear bumpers, illuminated logos, and new colour options. Inside the cabin, updated materials and new upholstery choices provide a more premium feel.
Comfort features now include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated front seats
- Electric driver seat
- Automatic climate control (now standard across variants)
These upgrades are intended to improve daily usability and passenger comfort.
Safety
The Taigun retains its five-star Global NCAP safety rating and strengthens its safety credentials further with an expanded safety package. The updated model now offers six airbags as standard across all variants.

- Electronic Stability Control
- Hill Hold Assist
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Over 40 safety features for enhanced stability and control
With these updates, Volkswagen aims to make the refreshed Taigun more feature-rich, safer, and better suited to evolving customer expectations in India’s compact SUV market.
