Honda India Foundation (HIF), the CSR arm of all Honda group companies in India, has launched the Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program at the Honda Samajik Vikas Kendra in Naurangpur. Alongside this, the foundation also flagged off the ‘Sadak Suraksha Express’, a mobile awareness initiative focused on educating communities about safe driving habits and pedestrian behavior.
Both programs are part of Honda’s broader commitment to achieving Zero Traffic Fatalities and fostering a culture of responsible mobility and positive attitudes toward road safety.
The launch event was attended by Mr. Vinay Dhingra and Mr. Katsuyuki Ozawa, Trustees of Honda India Foundation, along with Mr. Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer at HIF, and Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer, Corporate Affairs at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program has been launched to involve youth as active participants in promoting safer driving and riding habits. It supports Honda’s global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050 with a target of reducing fatalities by 50% by 2030. Under this initiative, each batch of participants will undergo a three-month training, including 15 days of classroom sessions and 75 days of community activities related to educating the masses on road safety led by these ambassadors. The participants will share their learnings with families, friends and local communities, helping build awareness of traffic rules and responsible behaviour on roads.
HIF also introduced ‘Sadak Suraksha Express,’ a mobile road safety awareness initiative that will travel across rural areas to spread key messages on traffic safety and pedestrian awareness. The van features visual demonstrations, local language content, street plays and storytelling sessions to make safety education more engaging and accessible for all. The activity aims to reach people across various age groups including farmers, school children, teachers, women and community leaders encouraging a culture of caution and mindfulness on the roads. It will also help strengthen rural connect through interactive sessions and community-based learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, said, “Creating awareness at community level is central to building safer roads. The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program and Sadak Suraksha Express are designed to engage youth and local communities by providing them the tools and knowledge to promote responsible mobility. By combining structured learning with hands-on community-focussed activities, these initiatives aim to create a lasting impact.
We believe that informed, aware communities can play a key role in reducing accidents and fostering a culture of safety on our roads. This is a tangible way for Honda India Foundation to contribute to shaping safer and more conscious mobility for everyone.”
Through these efforts, HIF continues to focus on creating informed communities and fostering safer mobility practices across India, engaging youth as key changemakers for the future.
