Maruti Suzuki expands Healthcare Initiatives across Gurugram, Rohtak and Sonipat

The programs align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched two targeted healthcare initiatives aimed at addressing key public health challenges in rural and semi-urban communities across Gurugram, Rohtak and Sonipat in Haryana.

The programmes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Through these initiatives, the company aims to strengthen healthcare awareness and improve long-term health outcomes for vulnerable groups, including adolescents, women and mothers.

The initiatives focus on enhancing health education, promoting preventive healthcare practices and supporting community-level interventions to address pressing healthcare needs in underserved areas.

A year-long Menstrual Hygiene Project has been launched in two government schools in Rohtak and Kharkhoda, with plans to expand the initiative to eight additional schools in Manesar. Menstrual health continues to be one of the most under-discussed yet critical aspects of women’s well-being. The programme is expected to reach more than 4,500 students from classes 6 to 12, focusing on raising awareness, addressing misconceptions, promoting hygienic practices, and encouraging long-term behavioural change. It will also involve parents, teachers, and community stakeholders to help create a more supportive and informed environment.

In addition, a comprehensive anaemia reduction programme has been rolled out across 10 villages in the districts of Gurugram, Rohtak and Sonipat in Haryana, building on previous anaemia-related interventions in the state. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), anaemia remains a significant global public health concern, particularly affecting young children, pregnant and postpartum women, and menstruating adolescent girls.

Aligned with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Anemia Mukt Bharat Mission, the initiative aims to benefit around 16,500 individuals, with a strong focus on vulnerable groups. Maruti Suzuki India Limited is implementing the programme in collaboration with the state government, incorporating health screenings, nutrition awareness campaigns, and continuous follow-up assessments to monitor and improve community health outcomes.

Announcing these initiatives, Mr. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we believe that true leadership is about sharing and spreading progress. Through our comprehensive CSR interventions, we strive to uplift communities around our plants. Our community development efforts span across healthcare, education, sanitation, water access, and infrastructure. Our Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Project and the Anaemia Reduction Program are set to reach over 21,000 people, including adolescents, women, and mothers.”
