Mahindra to invest ₹15,000 Cr in largest auto & tractor plant in Maharashtra

Mahindra announces a ₹15,000 crore investment to set up its largest integrated auto and tractor plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra, with production planned from 2028.

Mahindra Group has announced plans to establish its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a major milestone in the Group’s long-term growth and manufacturing strategy. The announcement was made at Advantage Vidarbha, a three-day flagship event aimed at positioning Vidarbha as an emerging industrial growth hub in India.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing complex will be developed over 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, supported by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar, strengthening Mahindra’s manufacturing ecosystem in the region.

Once fully operational, the facility will have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing footprint in the country.

Vidarbha offers strong strategic advantages, including seamless road connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway, robust rail infrastructure, access to key domestic and export markets, and a rapidly developing industrial ecosystem. The supplier park in Sambhajinagar will enhance value-chain integration through closer collaboration with partners, improved logistics efficiency, and higher localisation. It will supply components to the new Nagpur facility as well as Mahindra’s existing plants at Chakan and Nashik.

The automotive manufacturing unit will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of producing vehicles across multiple powertrains—ICE, electric, and future technologies—for both domestic and global markets. Equipped with advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems, the plant will reflect Mahindra’s focus on innovation, quality, and sustainability.

The tractor manufacturing unit will further strengthen Mahindra’s leadership in the farm equipment segment, addressing rising domestic demand while serving key export markets.

In addition, Mahindra will acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik region to expand existing product and engine capacities and to support the growth of its Advanced Technology business.

With these initiatives, Mahindra is committing a comprehensive investment of ₹15,000 crore over a 10-year period in Maharashtra and will acquire over 2000 acres across three locations to further strengthen its manufacturing footprint.

Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said: “Mahindra’s decision to establish its largest integrated auto and tractor manufacturing facility in Maharashtra is a strong endorsement of the state’s robust industrial ecosystem and progressive policy framework. This landmark investment will generate significant employment, accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and surrounding areas, and further reinforce Maharashtra’s position as a leading manufacturing hub in India.”

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said: “This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility and advanced technology within one integrated footprint. It strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products while staying true to our commitment to ‘Make in India for the World.’ We are proud to deepen our partnership with the state of Maharashtra through this transformative investment.”

With this new manufacturing complex, Mahindra continues to accelerate its vision of shaping the future of mobility and farm mechanisation—driven by innovation, sustainability and global competitiveness—while contributing meaningfully to India’s industrial growth.
