Shriram Pistons expands into EV and Advanced Automotive Components

Shriram Pistons expands into EV and advanced automotive components with MoA amendment. Entry into traction motors, ADAS, infotainment, OEM components and more signals a major shift toward future mobility.

Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited has amended its Memorandum of Association (MoA) to broaden its business scope, marking a strategic expansion into electric vehicle (EV) technologies and advanced automotive components.

Expanded Core Business Scope

The first amendment revises the existing sub-clause under Clause III(A), significantly widening the company’s traditional product portfolio. The updated scope now includes manufacturing of pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, engine bearings, valve tappets, connecting rods, steering knuckles, gear assemblies, power take-offs, and other engine and transmission components.

Additionally, the revised clause expands the range of end-use applications beyond conventional automobiles, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles. The company can now also cater to sectors such as drones, lawnmowers, snowmobiles, submarines, and aircraft, reflecting a broader mobility and industrial focus.

Entry into Electric Vehicle and Powertrain Systems

The second amendment signals Shriram Pistons’ formal entry into the electric vehicle supply chain. Under this clause, the company will be able to design, manufacture, and supply traction motors, including permanent magnet synchronous, axial flux, radial flux, and combination flux motors.

The scope further includes motor controllers, DC-DC converters, battery management systems (BMS), and complete e-drive systems. In addition, the company will be able to develop radar and telematics units, infotainment systems, ADAS components, lidars, and high-pressure die casting (HPDC) parts, along with precision-moulded plastic and metal components used in vehicle interiors and exteriors.

OEM and Jobbing Business Expansion

The third amendment enables the company to undertake OEM manufacturing and jobbing work across a wide range of automotive components. This includes axles, propeller shafts, universal joints, injection-moulded parts, EV water pumps, thermal cooling systems, and plastic fuel capture systems.

The expanded scope also covers automotive lighting solutions such as LED lights, ambient lighting, daytime running lights, charging indicators, illuminated grilles, and lighted logos. Interior components such as capacitive touch panels, intelligent steering systems, sun visors, headliners, door panels, and parcel trays are also included.

With these amendments, Shriram Pistons & Rings is positioning itself to diversify beyond conventional engine components and strengthen its presence in the evolving EV and advanced mobility ecosystem.
