Tesla has officially launched its first showroom in India at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on July 15, 2025. The new Tesla Experience Centre features a sleek white-themed interior, blending the brand’s signature minimalist design with subtle Indian cultural elements—symbolizing a seamless fusion of global innovation and local aesthetics.
The showroom features illuminated lightboxes that highlight Tesla’s global advancements alongside Indian motifs, offering an immersive brand experience. Impressively, the entire space was completed in just 45 days, reflecting Tesla’s focus on rapidly scaling its India operations.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the centre, calling it a landmark moment for the state and the nation’s clean mobility goals. “Tesla’s arrival in Mumbai sends a strong message. Maharashtra is the right state and Mumbai the right city for Tesla’s India journey,” he said, reaffirming the state’s leadership in electric mobility and its appeal for future manufacturing investments.
Fadnavis confirmed that Tesla’s India plans go beyond launching the Model Y. The company is also setting up four major charging stations and building a robust logistics and service ecosystem across Maharashtra.
While Tesla has not yet announced local manufacturing, recent policy changes—such as reduced import duties—could pave the way for future production in India. Coupled with Tesla’s recent hiring spree and ongoing infrastructure development, these moves signal the company’s growing commitment to India’s expanding electric vehicle market.
