Uno Minda approves ₹764 crore capex for new alloy wheel plant

The investment will strengthen the company’s LPDC and GDC alloy wheel capabilities, supporting OEM demand, premiumisation, and electrification trends.

Auto component major Uno Minda has approved a capital expenditure of ₹764 crore to set up a greenfield four-wheeler alloy wheel manufacturing facility, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing alloy wheels segment.

The proposed plant will manufacture alloy wheels using a mix of Gravity Die Casting (GDC) and Low Pressure Die Casting (LPDC) technologies. Developed in a phased manner over the next four years, the facility will have an annual production capacity of around 1.8 million wheels.

The new manufacturing unit is planned to be located near Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra. According to the company, the investment will significantly expand its LPDC-based alloy wheel manufacturing capabilities, reinforcing its position with OEM customers that increasingly prefer LPDC technology and enabling further market share gains in this segment.

Commenting on the investment, Ravi Mehra, Managing Director, Uno Minda Group, said the operating environment remains favourable, supported by sustained demand momentum following GST rationalisation, a policy-supportive Union Budget, and evolving global trade and free trade agreement (FTA) developments.

“These factors strengthen India’s position as a competitive manufacturing and export hub. At Uno Minda, we are aligning our strategy with these tailwinds through targeted investments in advanced technologies, localisation, and scalable manufacturing capacities,” Mehra said.

He added that the company’s focus on safety, premiumisation, and electrification is steadily increasing content per vehicle, strengthening its positioning across both domestic and global platforms. “As we execute our expansion pipeline, we remain committed to building a technology-led, globally competitive organisation that delivers sustainable growth and long-term value creation,” he said.
