Electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast India is planning an aggressive expansion in the Indian market, with three new model launches and a significant scale-up of its retail network this year, according to CEO Tapan Ghosh.
Speaking on Saturday, Ghosh said the upcoming products will be developed around real-world usage patterns and premium ownership experience, rather than purely on-paper specifications, while offering strong value for price-conscious Indian consumers.
VinFast will begin its 2026 product rollout with the launch of a seven-seater electric MPV, positioned as a premium yet practical offering designed for both family and commercial applications. “This reflects how we see EV adoption evolving in India—not just as a personal mobility choice, but also as a shared and fleet-based solution,” Ghosh said.
He added that additional models will follow, each catering to different customer segments and mobility needs. “Our focus remains on safety, reliability, and long-term value—the fundamentals that sustain brands over time—rather than chasing short-term trends,” he noted.
VinFast commenced local production at its Tamil Nadu facility last year and has so far introduced the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in the Indian market. By the end of 2025, the company had established 35 showrooms across major cities.
“In 2026, our goal is to expand this footprint to 75 showrooms nationwide,” Ghosh said. “We are currently present mainly in metro, Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. Going forward, we plan to deepen our presence in Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets, while also increasing showroom density in high-volume urban centres.”
Beyond vehicle sales, VinFast plans to collaborate with partners within Vingroup’s green mobility ecosystem to develop charging infrastructure and introduce all-electric ride-hailing solutions in India. “This is important not only for VinFast customers, but for the broader EV ecosystem,” Ghosh said.
“When people see EVs being used confidently at scale, hesitation reduces—and everyday users often become the strongest ambassadors for electric mobility,” he added.
