Mahindra has expanded its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme across its entire Electric Origin SUV portfolio, making the flexible ownership option available on the BE 6 SPORTEQ, XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
Initially introduced with the launch of the BE 6 SPORTEQ, the BaaS programme is designed to make EV ownership more accessible by allowing customers to finance the vehicle and battery separately through a dual-financing structure.
Under the programme, customers can purchase the BE 6 SPORTEQ starting at ₹11.45 lakh, while financing the battery separately at an effective usage cost of ₹3.75 per kilometre. By reducing the upfront purchase cost, the programme aims to offer customers greater flexibility in managing their monthly ownership expenses.
Following a strong response from customers, Mahindra has now expanded the BaaS option across all variants of the BE 6 SPORTEQ and introduced it for its flagship Electric Origin SUVs, the XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
Under the expanded programme:
- The XEV 9S now starts at ₹12.65 lakh, with battery financing at an effective usage cost of ₹3.75 per kilometre.
- The XEV 9e now starts at ₹13.90 lakh, with battery financing at an effective usage cost of ₹3.75 per kilometre.
- Battery-as-a-Service is now available across all variants of the BE 6 SPORTEQ, XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
Mahindra says the expansion is another step towards simplifying EV adoption by lowering the initial cost of ownership and offering customers greater flexibility through alternative financing options.
It is important to note that the BaaS or dual-loan offering is a financing product provided by Mahindra’s respective finance partners and is not a pay-per-use programme. Finance approval is subject to the discretion of the financing partner and applicable terms and conditions.
The prices are based on a battery EMI starting at ₹6,975 and an effective usage cost of ₹3.75 per kilometre, calculated on the basis of 60 km of daily usage and a specified down payment. The actual battery EMI may vary depending on the battery size, down payment and loan tenure. The quoted prices exclude the cost of the charger, road tax, insurance, TCS and other applicable statutory charges. The BaaS programme is available for personal use only.
