BMW M2 CS launched in India at ₹1.66 Crore

The launch reflects growing demand for high-performance, track-focused vehicles in India’s luxury segment.

BMW M2 CS has been officially launched in India, arriving as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) in limited numbers. The high-performance coupe is priced at ₹1.66 crore (ex-showroom), making it one of the most exclusive offerings in BMW’s M lineup in the country.

Speaking on the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, highlighted that the M2 CS is engineered for pure driving excitement while remaining practical for everyday use. Designed as a bridge between racetrack performance and road usability, the model targets enthusiasts seeking an uncompromising driving experience.

Powertrain and Performance

Built on the second-generation M2 platform, the M2 CS delivers 530 hp (390 kW) and 650 Nm of torque from its upgraded 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.

  • 0–100 km/h: 3.8 seconds
  • Top speed: 302 km/h (with M Driver’s Package)

The engine shares its foundation with the race-bred unit used in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, featuring motorsport-inspired components like a forged crankshaft, closed-deck construction, and advanced cylinder coatings.

Record-Breaking Performance

The M2 CS has already proven its track credentials by setting a new benchmark at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. On April 11, 2025, it completed the 20.8 km circuit in 7:25.5 minutes, beating the previous compact car record by eight seconds.

Aggressive Design with Lightweight Materials

The exterior design emphasizes performance and weight reduction, with extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP):

  • Carbon roof, boot lid, mirror caps, and rear diffuser
  • CS-specific “ducktail” spoiler for improved aerodynamics
  • Unique kidney grille with enhanced air intakes
  • 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels in Gold Bronze finish

The car is available in four paint options, including Brooklyn Grey, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire, and BMW Individual Velvet Blue.

Chassis and Driving Dynamics

The chassis has been lowered by 8 mm and features bespoke tuning for springs, dampers, and control systems. Enhancements to Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and M Dynamic Mode ensure optimal performance, especially under track conditions.

Braking performance comes from M Compound brakes (standard), with optional M Carbon ceramic brakes for intensive track use.

Driver-Focused Interior

Inside, the M2 CS blends luxury with motorsport aesthetics:

  • Lightweight M Carbon Bucket Seats
  • Alcantara steering wheel with carbon accents
  • Carbon centre console with red CS lettering
  • Illuminated CS branding and ambient lighting

A Harman Kardon sound system and premium Merino leather upholstery come as standard.

Technology and Connectivity

The car features BMW Operating System 8.5, offering:

  • BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Head-Up Display
  • Smartphone integration and wireless charging
  • Advanced driver assistance systems
  • M Drive Professional with Drift Analyser and Lap Timer

Optional features include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go and BMW Driving Assistant.

Safety Features

Safety is comprehensive with:

  • Multiple airbags (front, side, and rear head airbags)
  • ABS, ASC, CBC, DBC, and DSC
  • Active M Differential
  • Parking Assistant with front and rear sensors

Efficiency Meets Performance

Despite its high-performance focus, the M2 CS incorporates BMW EfficientDynamics technologies such as lightweight construction, Auto Start-Stop, and optimized aerodynamics, ensuring a balance between performance and efficiency.

The BMW M2 CS stands out as a pure driver’s car, combining track-ready performance with everyday usability. With limited availability and a strong motorsport pedigree, it reinforces BMW M’s position in the high-performance segment in India.
