Kia India, a leading mass-premium automaker, has launched its first made-in-India electric vehicle—the Carens Clavis EV—priced from ₹17.99 lakh. The Kia Carens Clavis EV is engineered for Indian conditions, combining proven global technology with local validation. Powered by a responsive and efficient electric powertrain, it delivers smooth performance tailored for both city drives and long-distance travel. Customers can choose between two battery options—42kWh with an ARAI-certified range of 404 km (MIDC) and 51.4kWh offering up to 490 km range (MIDC). These are paired with motor outputs of 99kW or 126kW, delivering 255Nm of torque, enabling swift acceleration even when fully loaded.
Built for high efficiency, the Clavis EV boasts 95% motor efficiency and can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds with the larger battery. Fast charging support allows 10% to 80% top-up in only 39 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. Practical features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allow users to power appliances both inside and outside the car.
Durability and safety are key highlights, with the IP67-certified battery pack being dust- and waterproof. The battery undergoes rigorous testing including water-soak, drop, and extreme vibration trials. A liquid-cooled thermal management system ensures optimal battery performance even in high Indian temperatures, while an Active Air Flap improves aerodynamics and regulates battery temperature.
The Carens Clavis EV features a spacious, premium cabin tailored for Indian families, blending comfort, technology, and convenience. At the heart of the interior is a 67.62 cm (26.62”) Dual Panoramic Display Panel that seamlessly integrates infotainment and driver information. Practicality is enhanced with features like one-touch electric tumble for second-row seats, Boss Mode for extra legroom, and a smart infotainment-temperature control switch.
The cabin is further elevated with a Bose 8-speaker premium sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, and a floating center console equipped with retractable cup holders and open storage. Comfort-focused features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI display, and Shift-by-Wire column-type gear selector, making every journey refined and enjoyable.
The Carens Clavis EV enhances everyday driving with intelligent regenerative braking using paddle shifters. Drivers can choose from four levels of regeneration, allowing customized energy recovery and deceleration. At the highest level—Level 4 or i-Pedal mode—the vehicle enables true one-pedal driving, ideal for stop-and-go urban traffic, improving efficiency and reducing brake use.
Additionally, the Auto Mode automatically adjusts regeneration levels based on real-time conditions, ensuring optimal energy recovery and a smooth driving experience. These features make daily commutes more efficient, convenient, and intuitive.
