Piaggio launches Apé WavE electric three-wheeler at ₹2.49 lakh

Piaggio Vehicles has launched the Apé WavE electric passenger three-wheeler in India at ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Powered by a 5.4 kWh battery, the L3 EV delivers a real-world range of around 90 km and targets shared mobility, fleet operators, and last-mile passenger transportation.

Piaggio Vehicles has expanded its electric mobility portfolio with the launch of the Apé WavE, a new L3 passenger electric three-wheeler priced at ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest addition strengthens the company’s presence in India’s growing affordable urban mobility segment and is aimed at shared mobility operators and last-mile passenger transport.

The Apé WavE is powered by a 5.4 kWh battery pack paired with a 3 kW peak-output electric motor that delivers 25 Nm of torque. According to the company, the electric three-wheeler offers a real-world driving range of approximately 90 km, a top speed of 40 km/h, and can be fully charged in around 4.5 hours.

Designed for shared mobility, fixed-route transportation, and short-distance passenger services, the Apé WavE features a monocoque chassis, full-metal body, passenger-focused suspension, and 180 mm of ground clearance, ensuring durability and comfort across diverse operating conditions.

Commenting on the launch, Amit Sagar, Executive Vice President – CV Domestic Business & Retail Finance, Piaggio Vehicles, said the passenger electric three-wheeler segment continues to witness robust demand, particularly in markets where shared mobility plays a crucial role in daily commuting. He added that the Apé WavE has been engineered to offer an optimal balance of affordability, low operating costs, and passenger comfort for both individual owners and fleet operators.

Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director, Piaggio Vehicles, said the new electric three-wheeler has been developed to deliver affordable ownership while enhancing comfort, safety, and operational reliability. He noted that the Apé WavE is designed to address the evolving requirements of India’s passenger EV market.

The Apé WavE will be available through Piaggio dealerships across India and joins the company’s existing electric three-wheeler lineup, which includes the Apé E-City, Apé E-City FX, Apé E-City Maxx, and Apé ECity Ultra.
