Scania has unveiled its new SUPER truck range in India, featuring a next-generation 13-liter powertrain that delivers over 10% fuel savings compared to previous models. Alongside improved fuel efficiency, the trucks offer lower emissions and enhanced vehicle uptime.
Equipped with an advanced gearbox, the SUPER series produces torque between 2,800 Nm and 3,800 Nm, enabling smoother gear shifts and extending component life. A standout feature is its fuel optimization system, which increases usable fuel tank capacity to 97% of the total volume—boosting driving range and reducing turnaround times for fleet operators.
“SUPER is built around what matters most to you—over 10% fuel savings, higher uptime, and clear cost advantages that strengthen your bottom line,” said Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director of Scania Commercial Vehicles India. The launch is supported by a comprehensive package that includes service solutions and financing options tailored for commercial fleets.
Scania’s newly launched SUPER truck range is specifically designed for operators in the mining, construction, and long-haul transport sectors—industries where fuel efficiency and fast turnaround times are crucial to operational profitability. The company highlights that the vehicles have been rigorously engineered and tested to perform reliably under Indian conditions.
Scania began its operations in India in 2007 and established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in 2011 at Narasapura, near Bangalore. The 37-acre site includes a regional production center covering 125,794 square feet. While the company has primarily focused on the mining segment, it also maintains a strong service and parts support network, including a dedicated warehouse in Nagpur.
The SUPER series is now open for orders, with extensive customization options available to suit various customer needs and applications. Pricing details for the new range have yet to be announced.
Scania Commercial Vehicles AB, the Swedish parent company, has a legacy spanning over 130 years and a global workforce of around 50,000 employees across more than 100 countries. In addition to trucks and buses, Scania also manufactures engines for industrial, marine, and power generation use.
