Maruti Suzuki strengthens EV Push with major partnership across 13 charging operators

With 2,000+ exclusive charging points across its dealer network and access to an extensive partner-operated infrastructure, Maruti Suzuki aims to enable over 1,00,000 public charging points by 2030.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has taken a landmark step in accelerating India’s shift towards electric mobility by signing collaboration agreements with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators. The historic announcement was made in the presence of Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, and Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, along with senior representatives from all partner CPOs.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we are committed to delivering a superior ownership experience and strengthening customers’ trust as we transition into the electric mobility era. Today marks a pivotal moment as we enter the EV domain with comprehensive readiness to address charging concerns and enhance customer confidence.”

He highlighted that Maruti Suzuki has already established 2,000+ exclusive charging points across its extensive sales and service network in 1,100+ cities, ensuring convenient access for EV users. The new collaboration with 13 CPOs further expands nationwide charging availability, reinforcing a unified EV ecosystem.

Aligned with Suzuki’s global vision, Maruti Suzuki aims to launch multiple EV models in the coming years. To support this ambitious rollout, the company—together with its dealer network and CPO partners—plans to enable over 1 lakh EV charging points across India by 2030, creating one of the nation’s most extensive and accessible charging infrastructures.

Showcasing the robust EV ecosystem, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Today is the dawn of a new era for electric mobility in India. It gives me immense pleasure to say that Maruti Suzuki is EV ready and will be ‘By Your Side’ with our comprehensive new platform that addresses key concerns around EV charging infrastructure. Leveraging India’s largest dealer network and our charging partners’ network, we are ensuring there are EV charging points at an average distance of 5-10 kilometres at key locations in the top 100 cities of India. DC fast chargers are also located at regular intervals along key highways to enable nationwide driving freedom for our prospective EV customers. To further enhance peace of mind, we have deployed a 1.5 lakh-strong specially-trained EV workforce to cater to every need of our customers. We have also activated 1500+ EV-ready service workshops across 1100 cities for meeting after-sales requirements to support EV ownership in every part of the country.”

“Words aside, we are showcasing the prowess of this platform by flagging off a radical ‘e drive’ that will demonstrate the real-world efficacy of Maruti Suzuki’s comprehensive EV charging network. With the ‘e drive’, we aim to boost user confidence and execute faster EV adoption, working alongside the nation’s sustainability goals for net zero,”  added Mr. Banerjee.

The Maruti Suzuki ‘e for me’ EV charging mobile app brings the entire electric mobility experience onto a seamless, unified platform. The app enables end-to-end access to EV charging points—covering both partner-operated networks and Maruti Suzuki’s own charging infrastructure—while offering a consistent user experience for charging, monitoring and payments. Users can pay easily through UPI or via ‘Maruti Suzuki Money’, powered by Razorpay.

From the moment an e VITARA is booked, the app serves as a single digital companion for setting up the smart home charger, optimising charging usage, locating public charging points and accessing a range of other EV-centric features.

Key Features of the ‘e for me’ App

  • Locate, Pay & Charge: Discover EV charging points, access them and pay seamlessly.
  • Unified Control: Manage both public chargers and the smart home charger through the same app.
  • ‘Tap N Charge’ Card: A single card for effortless charging at Maruti Suzuki dealer outlets and home chargers.
  • In-Car Integration: Mirror the app on the vehicle’s infotainment system for a smooth, intuitive in-car charging experience.
  • Remote Smart Home Charging: Start or stop charging remotely and control power output of the home charger.

Maruti Suzuki has also developed a strong EV ecosystem, ensuring its nationwide showroom network and over 1,500 service workshops are fully EV-ready. This is supported by a 1.5 lakh-strong trained workforce, delivering one of India’s most robust EV ownership ecosystems.

To showcase the readiness of this charging infrastructure, the company has launched the pan-India ‘e drive’. As part of this initiative, four e VITARA Born EVs have set off from Gurugram toward the four corners of the country—from Srinagar in the North, to Kanyakumari in the South, Dibrugarh in the East, and Bhuj in the West. This nationwide drive aims to demonstrate the real-world feasibility of long-distance EV travel using the widespread ‘e for me’ charging network. Prospective customers can already explore this network through the Apple App Store® and Google Play™ Store.

The Made-in-India e VITARA Born EV is a globally benchmarked electric SUV, tested rigorously over 1 crore kilometres across extreme terrains—from scorching deserts to icy landscapes. Performing reliably in temperatures ranging from –30°C to 60°C, the e VITARA delivers an impressive driving range of 543 km.

With its advanced engineering and the comprehensive ‘e for me’ digital ecosystem, the e VITARA is poised to redefine EV ownership—offering a next-generation, unified and truly global electric mobility experience.
