PMI Electro Mobility partners with Delhi Government to launch DEVi Electric Bus Fleet

This partnership marks a transformative chapter in Delhi’s journey toward clean and green public mobility.

In a significant step toward sustainable urban transport, the Delhi Government has unveiled the DEVi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange) initiative, featuring a fleet of advanced, eco-friendly electric buses developed by India’s leading EV manufacturer, PMI Electro Mobility.

At the official launch, 255 fully electric 9-meter PMI buses were flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Shri Harsh Malhotra, Hon’ble Minister of State for Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs; Shri Pankaj Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Transport, and IT; and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Education. The event also saw participation from Members of Parliament representing Delhi and Cabinet Ministers of the Government of NCT of Delhi.

This partnership marks a transformative chapter in Delhi’s journey toward clean and green public mobility.

This deployment marks a significant step in Delhi’s Government’s ambitious plan to introduce 2,080 (9 Meter) electric neighbourhood buses between 2025 and 2026, as part of the city’s broader vision to transition 80% of the city’s public transport fleet to electric vehicles. Under this initiative, a total of 1,456 (9 Meter) PMI Electro Mobility buses will be deployed, each thoughtfully engineered for comfort, accessibility, and sustainability, ensuring an improved commuting experience while supporting the capital’s shift toward a cleaner, greener future.

Each of the 255 nine-meter DEVi electric buses, built by PMI Electro, is designed with a focus on comfort, safety, and accessibility. Key features include a 23-seat layout with six pink seats reserved for women, a wheelchair space with an automated ramp, a low-floor “kneeling” design for easier boarding, air suspension, real-time diagnostics, and automatic passenger counting. Operating from depots at Kushak Nallah and East Vinod Nagar, the fleet is strategically positioned to serve high-demand routes across Delhi. Notably, the initiative also promotes gender inclusivity by including women drivers in the DEVi fleet.

Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility, highlighted the significance of the DEVi initiative, saying, “As a Delhi resident, it is a matter of great pride for me to contribute to our city’s sustainable future. At PMI, we remain ever-committed towards propelling the nation towards a cleaner future and a more environmentally conscious public transport system. The DEVi project is a natural extension of this resolve, and we are consistently working to make electric mobility accessible, reliable, and inclusive. Our buses have already logged over 20 crore green kilometers nationwide, and with the DEVi buses initiative, we are bringing that expertise home to Delhi.”

PMI Electro Mobility was founded with a singular mission: to make green mobility accessible across every corner of India. Today, with a presence in 31 cities and over 2,500 e-Buses deployed across key regions — from Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh in the North, to West Bengal and Odisha in the East, Kerala in the South, and Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa in the West. PMI clocks approx. 1,00,000 zero-emission kilometers daily and continues to redefine sustainable public transport at scale. Beyond mobility, the initiatives like the “PMI Green Routes” program distributing 1,00,000 biodegradable seed cards — and its women-led battery assembly plant highlight its broader commitment to environmental stewardship and gender inclusivity within the green economy.
