CEAT Limited strengthens workplace policies to promote women’s participation and inclusion

As part of the RPG Group, CEAT continues to focus on building an inclusive and supportive workplace environment across its global operations.

CEAT Limited, one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers and part of the RPG Group, has reinforced its workplace policies aimed at supporting women employees across different stages of their professional and personal lives. The initiative reflects the company’s belief that strong work-life balance practices contribute to employee well-being while also enhancing organizational productivity.

Among the key provisions is CEAT’s Wellness Leave policy, which allows women employees to avail two days of work-from-home or paid leave every month during menstruation without the need for justification. Employees working on the shopfloor are also given the flexibility to adjust shifts or access on-site Occupational Health Centres whenever required. In addition, the company offers options for remote and hybrid working arrangements, subject to managerial approval.

In terms of caregiving support, CEAT provides 26 weeks of paid maternity leave along with hospitalization coverage. The company also offers crèche facilities and lactation rooms across its offices and manufacturing plants. Returning mothers are supported through flexible working hours and an option to work a four-hour day until their child turns one year old. A gender-neutral Child Caregiver Travel and Stay Policy further supports employees who need to travel for work while managing childcare responsibilities.

CEAT has also undertaken infrastructure upgrades at its manufacturing facilities to make shopfloor roles more accessible for women. The deployment of automated tyre-building machines, ergonomic fixtures, lift-assist devices, and conveyor-based tyre movement systems has significantly reduced the physical demands of several production tasks.

These initiatives have contributed to improved workforce diversity at CEAT’s plants. The company’s Chennai manufacturing facility currently reports 20 percent women workforce participation, while the Nagpur plant has achieved 28 percent women representation on the shopfloor. The Nagpur facility also holds the distinction of being the first factory in Maharashtra to introduce night shifts for women employees.

To further support professional growth, CEAT runs multiple development initiatives such as Womentoring, the Women Accelerator Program, and STARS, which focus on leadership development, digital skills, and functional capability building. Additionally, the company’s Employee Resource Group, EmpowHer, serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration on diversity and inclusion within the organization.

CEAT exports tyres to more than 110 countries and serves both domestic and global original equipment manufacturers, reinforcing its position as a key player in the international tyre industry.
