Ashok Leyland has secured an order worth ₹297.85 crore to supply 320 diesel buses to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. The Chennai-based commercial vehicle manufacturer, a flagship of the Hinduja Group, will deliver BS VI-compliant, 12-meter ultra-low entry rear-engine buses for city operations between June and August this year.
These buses feature iGen 6 BS VI technology, powered by a 184 kW (246 hp) H-Series engine with front and rear air suspension. Ashok Leyland is the only OEM in India manufacturing 12m ultra-low floor diesel buses and has already started deliveries to MTC, Tamil Nadu.
Previously, in July last year, the company secured its largest single order of 2,104 fully built buses from Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. Expanding its portfolio, Ashok Leyland recently launched the Bada Dost i5 in the 3.5-4T segment and, in Q2FY25, secured a repeat order of 180 units for the Boss 19T BEV and AVTR 55T TT BEV.
