EKA Mobility, in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan, has commenced the first phase of deployment of its 876-electric bus order in the state under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme. The inaugural batch of buses was flagged off in Jaipur by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, marking the beginning of one of Rajasthan’s largest electric public transport initiatives.
The deployment forms the initial phase of a comprehensive order for 876 electric buses, awarded under the Central Government’s PM e-Bus Sewa programme, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric public transport in cities with limited or developing urban transit infrastructure.
EKA Mobility secured the contract in consortium with Chartered Speed, which will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and deployment of the entire fleet across eight cities in Rajasthan.
Built on EKA Mobility’s modular electric commercial vehicle platform, the buses feature advanced connected fleet management systems, real-time vehicle tracking, and zero tailpipe emissions, supporting cleaner and more sustainable urban mobility. The buses have also been designed with accessibility in mind, incorporating an integrated wheelchair lift and dedicated entry mechanism to facilitate convenient boarding for Divyang passengers.
Commenting on the milestone, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman, EKA Mobility, said that the Rajasthan deployment represents another significant step in the company’s expanding electric mobility footprint across India. He noted that the rollout builds on EKA Mobility’s growing presence in states including Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting India’s transition towards sustainable public transportation.
