Kia India has announced that its mid-size SUV, the Kia Seltos, has surpassed 6 lakh cumulative sales in the Indian market since its launch in 2019. The company stated that the milestone underscores sustained demand for the model across variants and highlights its strong positioning within the competitive mid-SUV segment.
According to the automaker, nearly 29% of total Seltos sales come from top-spec variants, reflecting a growing consumer preference for higher trims equipped with advanced safety and technology features. At the same time, entry and mid-level variants continue to witness steady demand, indicating balanced acceptance across the product lineup.
Introduced in 2019, the Seltos entered the market with multiple powertrain options, including petrol and diesel engines, along with automatic transmission choices across fuel types. The SUV was positioned with a comprehensive feature package, including a large infotainment display, connected car technology, and premium interior elements.
Through successive updates, Kia has expanded the model’s safety and technology suite. The current iteration offers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), enhanced connectivity features, and an updated safety package. The company noted that this evolving feature mix has helped maintain consistent traction across both metro and non-metro markets.
Commenting on the achievement, Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said the 6 lakh milestone reflects continued customer trust in products that combine design, safety, technology, and performance. He added that the growing uptake of higher trims signals increasing acceptance of connected features and driver assistance technologies among Indian buyers.
As part of its next growth phase, Kia has also introduced an updated version of the Seltos. The SUV measures 4,460 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and features a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. It retains multiple engine and transmission options while incorporating a revised digital interface, updated ADAS capabilities, and structural safety enhancements.
Kia India emphasised that the Seltos remains central to its mid-SUV strategy as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the segment and attract both first-time and repeat customers.
Kia commenced operations in India in 2017 following a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a manufacturing facility in Anantapur. The plant began mass production in August 2019 and has an installed annual production capacity of 300,000 units. The company currently operates 819 touchpoints across 370 cities nationwide.
