In a major move toward sustainability and cost efficiency, Kia’s largest showrooms in Kurnool and Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) have fully transitioned to solar power with the help of Orb Energy. Each location now operates with a 100-kilowatt rooftop solar system, enabling 100% daytime energy offset and eliminating dependence on traditional power sources.
Installed within the past year, these 200-kilowatt combined systems have delivered impressive results—saving approximately ₹20 lakhs annually in electricity costs and offering a payback period of just 3 years and 4 months. The switch to solar not only reduces operating expenses but also reinforces Kia’s commitment to environmentally responsible business practices.
Commenting on the success of the project, Mr. Damian Miller, Co-founder & CEO of Orb Energy, said, “We are proud to partner with forward-thinking businesses like those Kia showrooms and their management. This project is a testament to how solar energy can significantly reduce costs while enabling companies to operate more sustainably.”
Reflecting on the transition to solar, Mr. Aditya Machani – Managing Director at KIA Motors Showroom, Kurnool and Anantapur shared, “100% of our daytime electricity needs are now met by our rooftop solar system from Orb Energy. This has given us the ability to take control of our rising electricity bills.”
The installation aligns with Orb Energy’s broader mission to deliver reliable, affordable solar solutions that help businesses across India move away from costly grid power toward self-generated clean energy. By reducing dependency on conventional sources, the Kia showrooms are setting a precedent for the automobile retail sector, demonstrating that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand.
As India continues its transition to renewable energy, forward-thinking companies like these are lighting the way—one rooftop at a time.
