Škoda Auto Volkswagen India reaches 50,000 Kylaq production milestone

The Škoda Kylaq, manufactured at the Chakan plant with extensive local sourcing, highlights India’s growing strengths in engineering, design, and manufacturing. The sub‑4‑meter SUV has driven SAVWIPL’s 36% year-on-year growth in 2025, achieving this milestone amid a renewed focus on scale, cost efficiency, and long-term supplier partnerships.

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a major production milestone, crossing 50,000 units of the Škoda Kylaq in just one year. This landmark achievement underscores the company’s robust commitment to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

The Škoda Kylaq has been a significant contributor to the Group’s 36% year-on-year growth in 2025, reflecting the impact of scaling up operations and increasing localisation across its India manufacturing footprint.

At the milestone celebration, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel, congratulated the company, stating: “I congratulate Škoda Auto Volkswagen India on achieving this production milestone and for their continued commitment to the ‘Made in India’ initiative.”

This milestone highlights SAVWIPL’s strategic focus on strengthening India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing local supply chains, and delivering products that resonate with Indian customers while supporting national industrial growth.

“On behalf of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, I extend our sincere gratitude to the Honourable Minister Mr. H. D. Kumaraswamy for gracing this milestone celebration with his presence.” said Piyush Arora, MD & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India “The 50,000‑unit milestone for the Kylaq reflects the deep trust and affection our customers have shown for this product. Built on the proven MQB‑A0‑IN platform, the Kylaq’s success is a powerful validation that vehicles designed in India, both for India and the world,  continue to earn admiration and confidence from customers domestically and globally.”

To accommodate the Kylaq, SAVWIPL has increased production capacity by 30 percent at the Chakan plant, while simultaneously strengthening engagement with domestic suppliers to achieve higher levels of localisation. This initiative is part of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s broader push to support the nation’s Make in India agenda, underscoring the Group’s efforts to deepen local engineering expertise and sourcing strength.

For SAVWIPL, the Kylaq’s production milestone is also an outcome of 25 years of nurturing a skilled local talent pool and developing a strong, integrated ecosystem in India. As the Group expands its model portfolio and increases output across its Indian manufacturing facilities, it continues to prioritise localisation and manufacturing excellence.
