The start of local assembly underscores Volkswagen’s focus on strengthening its SUV portfolio in India while enhancing localisation and operational efficiency. The Tayron R-Line, positioned as a premium offering, is expected to cater to customers seeking a blend of performance, design and advanced technology.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, said, “The start of production of another world-class model—the Tayron R-Line—at our Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility marks an important strategic step for Volkswagen India. Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “We believe there is a strong demand for premium German engineered cars here in India and our plan is to make these cars more accessible to our customers. The Tayron R-Line has rolled-off the production line today at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant, in less than a year since its global launch and that is our level of commitment to driving growth in India.”
The most premium SUV from Volkswagen India, the Tayron R-Line offers true 7-seater space, everyday practicality, and sporty R-Line design with refined appeal. With production underway, the brand gears up for greater momentum in the premium SUV segment with a launch slated within the first quarter of 2026.
