Fuel supply stable across India, no shortage of Petrol, Diesel or LPG: HPCL

Company urges citizens to avoid panic buying, says refineries running at full capacity and reserves remain strong

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has assured that fuel supply across India remains stable, with no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG reported anywhere in the country. The company said all fuel stations are operating normally and supply chains are functioning smoothly.

In a post on X, HPCL stated that India’s energy supply remains secure, with refineries running at full capacity and adequate reserves in place to meet current demand. The company added that future fuel supplies have also been secured, ensuring uninterrupted availability nationwide.

Addressing reports of panic buying in certain regions, HPCL clarified that the rush at fuel stations was driven by misinformation. The company urged citizens to rely only on official updates and avoid unnecessary panic.

Through additional advisories, HPCL highlighted that fuel availability remains normal across all states, with domestic production and imports sufficient to meet demand. The company also noted that India’s strong refining and supply network continues to support steady fuel availability, with crude oil shipments being received regularly from global sources.

HPCL further clarified that the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure is part of India’s long-term clean energy transition and is not linked to any fuel shortage.

The reassurance comes amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly involving the United States, Israel and Iran, along with concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz — a critical maritime corridor that handles nearly one-fifth of the world’s crude oil supply. Prior to the current tensions, India sourced around 12–15 percent of its oil imports through this route.

HPCL concluded by urging citizens to remain calm and follow official communication regarding fuel supply.
