PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) has unveiled the next-generation PETRONAS Syntium engine oil range as part of a phased global rollout. The updated product line features advanced formulations engineered to deliver improved engine protection, enhanced fuel efficiency, and superior performance for modern vehicles.
Designed to meet the latest API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 industry specifications, the new PETRONAS Syntium range incorporates upgraded lubricant technology aimed at supporting cleaner, more efficient engine operation while helping reduce wear and improve overall durability.
Developed through decades of Formula One-winning experience and Fluid Technology Solutions™ expertise, the new range is designed to deliver enhanced engine protection, fuel efficiency and performance, bringing motorsport-proven technology into everyday reliability for motorists.
The new PETRONAS Syntium portfolio comprises four specialized formulations designed to address the diverse requirements of modern vehicle powertrains:
• PETRONAS Syntium Supreme – Developed for high-performance vehicles, this premium engine oil incorporates PETRONAS’ CoolTech+™ technology to help reduce engine wear while improving fuel efficiency by up to 13%, delivering enhanced protection under demanding driving conditions.
• PETRONAS Syntium Supreme GLV2 – Specifically formulated for Japanese-engine applications, this variant meets JASO GLV-2 specifications and is designed to provide up to 19% improved fuel efficiency along with enhanced shear stability, supporting optimal performance in modern Japanese vehicles.
• PETRONAS Syntium Prime – Engineered for everyday passenger vehicles, Syntium Prime features Active Defense™ technology that provides reliable, long-lasting engine protection and helps maintain consistent performance across a wide range of daily driving conditions.
• PETRONAS Syntium Hybrid – Tailored for hybrid vehicles, this formulation utilizes CoolTech-H™ technology to deliver targeted engine protection during frequent stop-start operation and at the lower operating temperatures commonly experienced in hybrid powertrains.
According to PETRONAS, the latest Syntium range has been developed to meet evolving engine requirements while enhancing fuel economy, durability, and overall engine performance across various vehicle segments.
Fuel-efficiency improvements are based on industry-standard testing and field trial data. Actual results may vary depending on vehicle type, driving habits, and operating conditions.

The all-new PETRONAS Syntium range has been launched in Malaysia, Japan and selected European markets. The rollout will expand across key Asia-Pacific markets throughout the year, making the range available at PETRONAS AutoExpert locations and authorised workshop networks in countries including China, Indonesia and Thailand by the end of 2026.
