
The 21st edition of the CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) paid tribute to the late Sunjay Kapur, Chairman Emeritus of Sona Comstar, in the In Memoriam category, recognising his remarkable legacy and transformative leadership in the automotive industry.
During his tenure, Kapur played a pivotal role in shaping Sona Comstar into a globally recognised mobility technology company. His early and decisive focus on electric vehicle components positioned the company at the forefront of the automotive sector’s shift toward electrification, strengthening India’s role in global automotive supply chains. In recognition of his contributions, Kapur was honoured posthumously at the 21st edition of the awards as an industry icon who significantly advanced India’s manufacturing growth and global competitiveness.
The award was received by Priya Kapur, Non-Executive Director at Sona Comstar, along with Vivek Vikram Singh, Managing Director and Group CEO of the company. Priya Kapur highlighted Sunjay Kapur’s strategic foresight, institution-building mindset, and unwavering commitment to innovation—principles that continue to guide the company’s growth.
