Polaris India Pvt. Ltd., a leading player in off-road mobility and adventure sports, has announced its sponsorship of the 1st Haryana State Wheelchair Ultimate Championship, marking a meaningful step toward promoting inclusive and adaptive sports in India.
Held on 11 January 2026, the championship forms part of a nationwide grassroots initiative aimed at creating India’s first competitive ecosystem for Wheelchair Ultimate—a rapidly emerging para-sport adapted from Ultimate Flying Disc (Frisbee) for athletes with physical disabilities.
The Haryana state championship also serves as a build-up event to the first-ever National Wheelchair Ultimate Championship, scheduled to take place in March 2026, further strengthening the pathway for para-athletes at the national level.
Wheelchair Ultimate is designed to be played on wheelchairs, emphasising agility, teamwork, and strategy, while fostering physical fitness and social inclusion. The broader Wheelchair Ultimate project aims to establish a robust grassroots program across India, create competitive platforms at the state and national levels, and ultimately position India on the global stage of para-sports.
By sponsoring the Haryana championship, Polaris India reinforces its commitment to empowerment, resilience, and community-building through sport.
Speaking on the association, Mr. Lalit Sharma, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd., said “At Polaris, we believe in pushing boundaries—on terrain and in society. Supporting the Haryana State Wheelchair Ultimate Championship aligns with our core values of courage, inclusivity, and innovation. Para-athletes embody extraordinary determination and grit, and we are proud to support a movement that is creating meaningful opportunities, visibility, and a national pathway for adaptive sports in India.”
Following the successful Uttarakhand State Championship held in December 2025 with participation from 30 para-athletes, Haryana becomes the next state to host its championship.
The Haryana State Wheelchair Ultimate Championship will see participation from around 50 athletes with disabilities, including 40 men and 10 women, aged between 18 and 35 years. Prior to the finals, training and classification camps will be conducted till 10 January, after which athletes will compete in the state finals on 11 January.
As part of its national expansion plan, Wheelchair Ultimate state championships are also scheduled across multiple regions, including Mumbai, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh & Delhi.
Looking ahead, the initiative aims to establish Wheelchair Ultimate clubs, community-led training programs, and life-skills development platforms for children and youth with disabilities.
