SIAM conducts Road Safety Refresher Workshops for drivers in Delhi

Under SIAM’s ‘सुरक्षित सफर (Safe Journey)’ initiative, road safety refresher workshops were held for commercial vehicle drivers on 12 January 2026 and three-wheeler drivers on 15 January 2026 at IDTR centres in Delhi, with participation from over 200 drivers, reflecting strong on-ground engagement.

As part of National Road Safety Month, observed annually from January 1 to 31, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), in collaboration with the Delhi Traffic Police and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, conducted a series of road safety refresher workshops in New Delhi aimed at promoting safer driving practices among commercial vehicle and three-wheeler drivers.

Organised under SIAM’s ‘सुरक्षित सफर (Safe Journey)’ initiative, the programmes form part of the industry body’s ongoing commitment to road safety education, supported through CSR initiatives of its member companies.

The first workshop, focused on commercial vehicle drivers, was held on 12 January 2026 at the Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR), Loni/Burari. This was followed by a road safety refresher workshop for three-wheeler drivers on 15 January 2026 at IDTR, Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi.

Together, the workshops saw participation from over 200 commercial vehicle and three-wheeler drivers, highlighting strong on-ground engagement and reinforcing the collective effort to enhance road safety awareness in the national capital.

The workshops included comprehensive health check-ups—covering blood pressure, blood sugar, and eye examinations along with the distribution of eyewear to drivers in need, supported by the Eicher Group Foundation and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital.

This was followed by structured road safety training sessions delivered by faculty from IDTR and the Delhi Traffic Police, focusing on traffic regulations, defensive driving techniques, and responsible on-road behavior. The sessions highlighted key road safety messages through interactive learning and active participant engagement.

Senior officials from the Delhi Traffic Police, including Mr. Dheeraj Narang, ACP, Mr Praveen Kumar, ACP Mr. Kuldeep Singh Tomar and Ms. Manju Singh, Inspector were present during the initiative. They were joined by Mr Vinay Dhingra, Vice President, SAFE & Sr. Director, Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India Ltd and Mr. Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM, who interacted with the drivers and emphasized the importance of continuous road safety awareness.
