Toyota unveils new Land Cruiser 250 series

Since its launch in 1951, the Land Cruiser has supported the lives and livelihoods of people in places that can only be reached in the Land Cruiser, a vehicle that allows people to go anywhere and everywhere and return safely. It has been developed and refined over more than 70 years as one of Toyota’s signature models, based on the actual usage situations of global customers.

Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has unveiled the new Land Cruiser “250” Series. Additionally, the heavy-duty Land Cruiser “70” will return to Japan as a regular model this coming winter, making all three Land Cruiser series available once again in the country. The Land Cruiser series, which has been developed and refined over 70 years based on the usage situations of global customers, allows people to travel safely to remote locations and return with ease.

Originally launched as the Toyota BJ on August 1, 1951, the Land Cruiser series has now reached 72 years of age. It achieved recognition for being the first vehicle to climb to the sixth station of Mount Fuji and has since continued to provide safety and security in challenging terrains.

The 250 Series was developed with a focus on returning to the true form customers desire in the Land Cruiser, designed to support people’s lives and local communities. It shares the same GA-F platform as the 300 Series, resulting in enhanced off-road performance, powerful driving capabilities, and improved environmental performance. The aim was to create a next-generation Land Cruiser with better handling, comfort, and advanced safety features.

The new 250 Series boasts of 50% increase in frame rigidity and 30% increase in overall rigidity, providing improved suspension performance and wheel articulation for better off-road driving. It includes systems like Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism (SDM), enhancing manoeuvrability, stability, and safety in both on- and off-road conditions. In pursuit of Toyota’s carbon neutrality initiatives, the 250 Series offers various powertrains, including the first hybrid system for a Land Cruiser, ensuring powerful driving performance while being environmentally friendly.

The interior and exterior styling of the 250 Series combine traditional and modern elements, focusing on reliability, simplicity, and refined functional beauty. The design allows for easy repairs and customizability, catering to individual preferences. All new Land Cruiser grades come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, an advanced active safety package, expanding the range of detectable accidents and providing peace of mind to drivers.
