Hero MotoCorp Limited has appointed Harshavardhan Chitale as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 5, 2026. The decision was finalized during the company’s board meeting on September 8, 2025, and disclosed through regulatory filings to the NSE and BSE.
Chitale will succeed Vikram Kasbekar, who has been serving as the Acting CEO. Post-transition, Kasbekar will continue on the board as Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer.
Bringing over 30 years of global leadership experience across both B2B and B2C sectors, Chitale most recently led Signify’s €4 billion Professional Business division as Global CEO. In that role, he managed operations across 70 countries and 12,000 employees, with responsibilities spanning manufacturing, supply chain, product development, and digital transformation.
Before joining Signify, Harshavardhan Chitale served as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Philips Lighting India, where he successfully led the company’s transition into a standalone publicly listed entity. His career also includes senior leadership roles at HCL Infosystems and Honeywell Automation India.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Chitale holds an engineering degree and was awarded the prestigious Director’s Gold Medal. Beyond his corporate leadership, he is also an active investor in sectors such as electric vehicles, clean energy, health tech, and agri-tech.
Hero MotoCorp, based in New Delhi, is one of India’s leading motorcycle manufacturers. The company has been undergoing key leadership changes while continuing to hold a strong position in the domestic two-wheeler market. Chitale’s appointment comes at a time when the auto industry is adapting to rapid shifts in consumer behavior and accelerating EV adoption.
The announcement was made in compliance with the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) listing obligations and disclosure requirements, which mandate listed companies to inform shareholders of major executive appointments and changes.
