Switch Automotive Mobility Ltd has announced that S. Mahesh Babu will step down as CEO of Switch India, effective 31st August 2025, as he pursues opportunities outside the group. Ganesh Mani, currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at Ashok Leyland, will assume the role of CEO at Switch India from 1st September 2025.
This leadership change aligns with the company’s strategy to leverage Ashok Leyland’s operational expertise to optimise costs while continuing its focus on the development of electric buses and light commercial vehicles.
Dheeraj G Hinduja, Chairman of Switch Mobility, thanked Mahesh Babu for his significant contributions, highlighting that Switch India reached EBITDA breakeven in FY25 and is now well-positioned for its next phase of growth. He expressed confidence in Ganesh Mani’s leadership, citing his strong background in operations and business transformation as key assets for driving future success.
Switch India, a part of the Hinduja Group, continues to strengthen its position in the electric commercial vehicle space with a growing portfolio of zero-emission offerings. The company currently markets electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs) including the IeV3 (1.25-tonne) and IeV4 (1.75-tonne), available through select Ashok Leyland dealerships.
In the electric bus segment, Switch offers 12-metre standard and low-floor variants, each capable of delivering up to 200 kilometres per charge. Backed by a robust order book of over 1,500 buses, the company is targeting a revenue doubling in FY26.
Formed through a collaboration between Ashok Leyland and UK-based Optare, Switch Mobility focuses exclusively on sustainable transport solutions. Its product range includes the EiV series of electric buses—such as the iconic double-decker EiV22—and the IeV line of LCVs.
To date, Switch vehicles have clocked over 150 million electric kilometres, with more than 1,000 electric buses and 1,000 electric LCVs currently in operation. The company’s proprietary telematics platform, SWITCH iON, enables real-time vehicle monitoring and data-driven fleet performance optimisation.
Switch supports its customers through a nationwide network of over 50 dealerships and 100 service points, reinforcing its commitment to dependable, future-ready mobility solutions across India.
