VinFast elevates Tapan Ghosh as CEO of Asia Business

Tapan Ghosh will oversee VinFast’s operations in India and Indonesia after being elevated from CEO of VinFast India to CEO of the company’s Asia business.

VinFast has appointed Tapan Ghosh as CEO of its Asia business, expanding his responsibilities to include the company’s operations in India and Indonesia. Ghosh assumed the newly expanded role in August 2026, according to his professional profile.

Ghosh previously served as CEO of VinFast India, a position he held since October 2025. In his new role, he will oversee VinFast’s overall business operations across both India and Indonesia.

Over 25 Years of Automotive Industry Experience

Ghosh brings more than two decades of experience in the automotive industry. Before joining VinFast, he spent over 12 years with Hyundai Motor India, where he most recently served as Vice President and Function Head (National Sales) from April 2023 to October 2025.

During his tenure at Hyundai, Ghosh was responsible for nationwide new-vehicle sales, sales strategy and execution, dealer network management, business operations, business development and revenue and profit optimisation. He also handled logistics operations and the company’s used-car business.

Prior to Hyundai, Ghosh spent nearly three years with Tata Motors as Regional Manager for its passenger vehicle business. His responsibilities included driving sales and market share, expanding revenue, improving customer experience, managing the dealer network and overseeing government and fleet sales.

Ghosh began his automotive career with Maruti Suzuki India in 2000 and spent nearly a decade with the company, holding various sales and regional management positions.

Academic Background

Ghosh holds an MBA in Marketing from T A Pai Management Institute in Manipal and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.

His appointment comes as VinFast continues to expand its presence across Asian markets, with India and Indonesia emerging as important markets for the company’s regional growth strategy.
