Bhavish Aggarwal teases new Ola electric scooter, coming in July

Ola Electric, which is offering two electric scooters now, will soon add another one to its kitty. Announcing the same, chief executive officer and founder of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal recently dropped a teaser of the upcoming EV.

“Announcing our next product event in July. Calling it the #endICEAge show, Part 1! Part 1 of the show would end ICE age in scooters! With S1 Pro, S1 Air and … XXXX. And maybe one more thing!,” Bhavish tweeted. Though little is known about the upcoming scooter, but some expect it to be a tourer version of the existing scooters.

Ola recently hiked its scooter prices. The flagship offering, S1 Pro, now costs INR 1.40 lakh ex-showroom while the S1 now carries a price tag of INR 1.30 lakh. The EV maker will start deliveries of S1 Air in July this year. Meanwhile, Ola has discontinued the 2 kWh and 4 kWh battery versions of S1 Air which will now be available only in 3 kWh version.

The 3kWh S1 Air is priced at is priced at INR 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, including FAME-II subsidy). It claims to offer 125 km range and top speed of 85 kmph with its 4.5 kW motor. The EV maker is seeking to cement its leadership credentials in India’s electric two-wheeler market with a portfolio of four to five models by the end of the ongoing fiscal.

After the launch of the S1 Air in July, the Bhavish Aggarwal-founded firm is planning to reduce price points further. This would be followed by three to four more new models that would aim at straddling multiple price points. “We are the most affordable brand of e-scooters and will become even more affordable with the S1 Air. Come July, it would help us to grow our sales in multiples,” Anshul Khandelwal, chief marketing and revenue officer, Ola Electric Mobility, told reporters.
