BMW Group India records best-ever Q1 2026 sales with 4,567 units, EV growth at 83%

The company currently commands over 70% market share in India's luxury EV segment. Through partnerships with service providers, customers now have access to over 6,000 charging points across India.

BMW Group India has reported its best-ever first-quarter performance, delivering 4,567 cars in Q1 2026 and registering a strong 17% year-on-year growth. Despite moderate performance across the luxury segment, the company recorded consistent double-digit growth, with each month in the quarter achieving record sales.

Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said the company entered 2026 from a position of strength, delivering its highest-ever Q1 performance despite macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges. He emphasized the company’s continued leadership in luxury electric mobility and outlined an ambitious product strategy for the year, with 27 launches planned, including four already introduced and 23 more to follow. The company will also continue strengthening customer experience, aftersales support, and brand engagement initiatives.

Strong Leadership in Luxury Electric Vehicles

BMW Group India maintained its leadership in luxury electric mobility, selling 1,185 BMW and MINI electric vehicles in Q1 2026 — marking an impressive 83% year-on-year growth. Every fourth car sold by BMW Group India during the quarter was an electric vehicle, with EV penetration reaching 26% of total sales.

Through partnerships with service providers, customers now have access to over 6,000 charging points across India.

BMW Group India offers one of the widest luxury electric vehicle portfolios in the country, comprising models such as the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, MINI Countryman E, MINI Countryman SE ALL4, along with electric two-wheelers including the BMW CE 04 and BMW CE 02, catering to a diverse range of premium mobility preferences across segments.

Long Wheelbase Models Continue to Drive Growth

Long wheelbase BMW models accounted for more than 50% of total sales, recording 2,256 units and growing by 23% year-on-year. These models continue to attract customers seeking enhanced comfort, luxury, and performance while maintaining BMW’s signature driving experience.

Sports Activity Vehicles Record Strong Demand

Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) delivered even stronger growth, rising 38% year-on-year to 2,966 units. SAVs now account for 65% of BMW Group India’s total sales, reflecting increasing customer preference for premium SUVs.

MINI Records Impressive Growth

MINI delivered 213 units in Q1 2026, achieving a 42% growth year-on-year. The performance was supported by strong demand across Hatch, Convertible, and Countryman models. Recent launches such as MINI Convertible, MINI Countryman JCW ALL4, and MINI Countryman SE ALL4 further strengthened the brand’s appeal.

BMW Motorrad Maintains Momentum

BMW Motorrad delivered 1,216 motorcycles in Q1 2026, supported by strong demand across key performance and adventure models, including the BMW G 310 RR, BMW S 1000 RR, BMW F 900 GS / BMW F 900 GSA, and the BMW R 1300 GS / BMW R 1300 GSA, highlighting continued customer interest in both sport and adventure touring segments.

Power-Packed Product Offensive in 2026

BMW Group India is set for an aggressive product offensive in 2026, with plans to launch 27 new products, including all-new generation models, facelifts, and limited editions across the BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad portfolios. Key launches in Q1 included the BMW M2 CS, BMW X3 30, BMW M 1000 R, and the MINI Cooper S Victory Edition, with eight additional product introductions scheduled for Q2 2026.

Strengthening Community and Brand Engagement

BMW Group India continues to strengthen customer engagement through experiential initiatives such as the BMW M Drift Academy, Women’s Power Drive, BMW Golf Cup, MINI Go-Kart Days, and BMW GS Experience, designed to build deeper connections with owners and enthusiasts. The brand also sustains its cultural partnerships with the India Art Fair and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, while the BMW Excellence Club offers curated premium experiences across travel, lifestyle, and sports for its customers.

Retail.NEXT Expands Customer Experience

BMW Group India is rolling out Retail.NEXT, a future-focused retail concept designed to enhance luxury experience and customer engagement. Currently, the company operates 97 touchpoints across 40 cities and plans to add 19 new outlets across 18 cities in 2026.
