Cadillac has announced the arrival of the all-new XT5 PHEV in China, making it the first production luxury hybrid SUV to feature Momenta’s R7 World Model.
The new plug-in hybrid SUV combines Cadillac’s expertise in intelligent driving with Momenta’s real-world driving data and software capabilities. The two companies have jointly tuned the system across algorithms, data, chassis engineering and vehicle calibration to deliver a more intuitive and confident assisted-driving experience suited to China’s varied road conditions.
XT5 PHEV Gets Momenta R7 World Model
The Momenta R7 World Model is designed to help the XT5 PHEV go beyond basic recognition of roads and obstacles. The system aims to better understand, predict and respond to complex real-world driving scenarios.
Cadillac says the technology can support drivers in situations including rush-hour traffic, narrow-road passing and parking. It is also designed to help handle unexpected obstacles, such as rolling objects, temporary road barriers and vehicle doors opening into the car’s path.
The system has been jointly developed and calibrated using Momenta’s real-world driving data covering more than 15 billion kilometres, with the objective of providing a smoother and more reassuring assisted-driving experience.

The SUV also features Cadillac’s electric “Hummingbird” chassis, which is designed to deliver smooth power delivery, precise handling and stable vehicle control across different driving conditions.
The combination of plug-in hybrid technology, advanced driver assistance and Cadillac’s chassis technology positions the XT5 PHEV as a technology-focused addition to the brand’s SUV lineup in China.
