The all-electric Hyundai INSTER has won the prestigious Golden Steering Wheel award from AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG in the “Vehicles under €25,000” category—one of the most competitive and fastest-growing segments in the German automotive market.
A Clear Winner Across All Evaluation Categories
The win highlights what has already resonated strongly with German consumers: Hyundai INSTER is the best-selling electric small car in Germany this year. Its impressive everyday usability, spacious interior, and exceptional price-performance ratio set it apart from its rivals, earning top marks from the expert editorial jury across all tested categories.
“Hyundai INSTER is a powerful example of how we deliver accessible mobility solutions. It reflects our commitment to making electric vehicles available to everyone – smart, stylish, and designed for real life,” said Xavier Martinet, President & CEO, Hyundai Motor Europe. “This recognition confirms that our vision resonates with customers across Europe. We will continue expanding our EV portfolio, bringing progressive design, advanced technology, and everyday usability to all our vehicles—from INSTER to IONIQ 9.”
A Strong All-Round EV Package
Since its debut last December, the Hyundai INSTER has set new benchmarks in the electric small-car segment. Even the entry-level Select variant comes equipped with a comprehensive digital cockpit, including a 10.3-inch display, 10.3-inch touchscreen, integrated navigation, and seamless smartphone connectivity via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™.
At fast-charging stations, INSTER can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes, thanks to its competitive standard charging capacity of up to 85 kW. This combination of modern technology, practical range, and strong value has made it the best-selling fully electric small car in Germany since the summer. Earlier this year, it also earned the title “World Electric Vehicle 2025.”
Golden Steering Wheel: A Legacy of Excellence
Since 1976, the Golden Steering Wheel has celebrated the year’s best new cars. In this edition, after reader voting, 21 finalists across eight categories made it to the final stage—including Hyundai INSTER in the micro/small car segment. Auto Bild’s seasoned editors ultimately awarded INSTER the Golden Steering Wheel for the best car under €25,000, judging it on handling, everyday practicality, build quality, sustainability, and overall value.
