MAHLE has once again earned top recognition for its sustainability performance, receiving an ‘A’ rating for climate change and an ‘A–’ rating for water security from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a leading global nonprofit. This achievement secures MAHLE’s continued place on the prestigious CDP Climate A List, reaffirming the company’s leadership in climate action.
The ratings reflect MAHLE’s consistent execution of its sustainability strategy, with climate targets externally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In 2025, the technology group further reduced its CO₂ emissions and strengthened its assessment of location-specific climate risks through the introduction of a new analytical tool.
Commenting on the recognition, Georg Dietz, Member of the Management Board of the MAHLE Group responsible for Sustainability, Health, Occupational Safety, and Environmental Management, said: “This recognition once again confirms that our commitment to climate protection is not only ambitious, but also effective and scientifically sound. We remain firmly committed to our strategic climate targets and will continue to implement them responsibly in the future.”
“Globally, only around four percent of all companies rated by CDP make it onto the Climate A List – an indicator of the exclusivity of this award,” said Kathrin Apel, Director Corporate Sustainability, Health, Occupational Safety and Environmental Management at MAHLE.
Enhanced Climate Risk Assessment
Especially remarkable is the improvement in the CDP subcategory “Risk Disclosure”. Last year, MAHLE significantly deepened its analysis of climate-related risks and implemented a tool for location-specific risk assessment. This enables the company to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities from climate change even more precisely and integrate them into its business strategy.
Clear Strategy
The company has aligned its emission reduction targets with the requirements of the Paris Climate Agreement. In 2025, MAHLE was able to reduce CO2 emissions once again. This progress was achieved through the integration of latest technologies, reduction of energy consumption, increased use of renewable energies, and replacement of fossil fuels. Also in product development, MAHLE is increasingly focusing on the use of recycled and bio-based materials.
The energy and emissions data from MAHLE has been audited externally since 2021 – demonstrating transparency and credibility.
