Kapila, Chairman of Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats (ICT) and President Emeritus of the International Road Federation (IRF), has been honoured with the prestigious Louis Prangey Award—the highest recognition granted by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). This distinguished award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and commitment to the global consulting engineering profession.
FIDIC, headquartered in Geneva, is the apex international body representing the consulting engineering industry. It sets global standards in construction technology and engineering consultancy, and its awards recognize excellence in infrastructure projects, professional practice, and the use of FIDIC contracts worldwide.
The Louis Prangey Award, named after FIDIC’s founding President, is the organization’s most esteemed accolade. It honours individuals who have made significant, long-term contributions to the industry and who exemplify the federation’s values, serving as role models for engineering professionals across the globe.
Eminent consulting engineer Mr. K.K. Kapila was conferred the prestigious Louis Prangey Award at the FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference 2025, held from September 21–23 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa. In the 113-year history of the award, Mr. Kapila becomes the 20th recipient—and notably, the first-ever Asian to receive this highest honour from FIDIC.
The award ceremony took place during a landmark global gathering aligned with South Africa’s G20 presidency and its theme: “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainable Development.” The conference highlighted the pivotal role of infrastructure in driving economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability. Mr. Kapila’s lifetime of contributions to consulting engineering was recognized as a shining example of leadership and vision supporting these global goals.
