NXP introduces S32N7 Processor to accelerate Software-Defined Vehicles

Built on a 5nm architecture, S32N7 supports AI-powered innovation while reducing vehicle complexity and cutting total cost of ownership by up to 20%.

NXP Semiconductors N.V. unveiled its S32N7 super-integration processor series, designed to unlock the full potential of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and enable the digitalisation of core vehicle functions.

Built on the same 5-nanometre architecture as the S32N55, the S32N7 is engineered to centralise propulsion, vehicle dynamics, body, gateway and safety domains into a single, secure computing hub at the heart of the vehicle. This approach significantly reduces system complexity while creating a scalable platform for AI-driven innovation.

By consolidating software and data across multiple domains, the S32N7 allows automakers to simplify vehicle architectures and cut total cost of ownership by up to 20%. These savings are achieved through the elimination of numerous electronic control units, alongside improvements in wiring, electronics integration and software efficiency.

The S32N7 series combines high-performance computing with uncompromising safety and cybersecurity, supporting the automotive industry’s transition toward highly integrated, software-centric vehicle platforms.

By centralizing intelligence, automakers gain a foundation to scale AI-driven innovation across the entire vehicle. Accelerating Software-Defined Mobility with Bosch

Bosch is the first to deploy the S32N7 in its vehicle integration platform. Together, NXP and Bosch have co‑developed reference designs, safety frameworks, hardware integration, and an expert enablement program, accelerating system deployment and reducing integration effort for early adopters.

The S32N7 series offers a scalable portfolio with 32 compatible variants, delivering application and real-time compute with high-performance networking, hardware isolation technology, AI and data acceleration on a system-on-chip (SoC), while meeting the strict timing, safety, and security requirements of the vehicle core. It is a key element of NXP’s S32 automotive processing platform, designed to accelerate the shift toward intelligent, next-generation vehicles.

The S32N79, the superset of the series, is sampling now with customers.
