Hyundai Motor Company has officially unveiled the highly anticipated IONIQ 6 N at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s electrification journey under the N performance division. Building on its experience in electric motorsport, including its participation in Pure ETCR, Hyundai N continues to push the limits of performance electrification with a bold new chapter.

The IONIQ 6 N embodies Hyundai’s vision of delivering high-performance EVs that excite and engage, underpinned by N’s core performance pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar. Purpose-built for both thrilling track experiences and refined daily driving, the IONIQ 6 N strikes an ideal balance between cutting-edge performance and everyday usability — setting a new benchmark in the world of electric performance vehicles.

Key technical advancements include fully redesigned suspension geometry, an improved N e-Shift (virtual gear shift) system that minimizes performance loss, plus better sound quality through updated hardware and extensive acoustic fine-tuning, ensuring that every drive is both engaging and immersive. By integrating these cutting-edge technologies, IONIQ 6 N not only exemplifies Hyundai N’s pursuit of performance excellence but also signals a bright future for EVs within the high-performance sector.

“With IONIQ 6 N, Hyundai N aims to elevate its offerings, enticing drivers with electric powertrains that offer high-performance enthusiasts a thrilling new avenue to electrify their passion both on the road and the track,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company.

IONIQ 6 N: Engineering Excellence Meets Electrified Performance

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N sets a new standard for high-performance EVs, combining cutting-edge engineering with electrifying performance. Delivering 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 257 km/h. At its core is the advanced N Battery system, designed for optimal thermal management and quick conditioning across drag, sprint, and endurance driving scenarios, ensuring sustained high performance.

Aerodynamics play a key role, with motorsport-inspired elements like a swan neck rear wing and widened fenders enhancing both visual appeal and high-speed stability. The new Performance Blue Pearl color adds visual depth, reinforcing its performance identity. Underneath, a reengineered chassis and redesigned suspension geometry—including stroke-sensing ECS dampers—offer enhanced precision, grip, and ride comfort across all driving conditions. According to Manfred Harrer, EVP and Head of Vehicle Development Tech Unit at Hyundai Motor Company, the IONIQ 6 N is a fusion of power, control, and refinement, setting new benchmarks in electric performance engineering.

IONIQ 6 N: Redefining Driver Engagement with Advanced Control Technologies

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N elevates the EV driving experience through its cutting-edge, in-house developed vehicle control software, designed to enhance driver interaction and engagement. At the heart of this is N Active Sound+, delivering immersive, performance-themed audio via stereo speakers and an Acoustic Design Processor, with selectable sound modes like ‘Ignition’, ‘Evolution’, and ‘Lightspeed’.

Complementing the auditory experience is N e-Shift, which simulates gear changes with motorsport-inspired precision, now fully integrated with key performance features such as N Launch Control, Drift Optimizer, Grin Boost, and Torque Distribution. N Ambient Shift Light adds a visual layer, illuminating optimal shift points inside the cabin for heightened immersion.

Track-focused tools like N Track Manager allow drivers to create custom tracks, analyze lap times, and view real-time performance data, including ghost car comparisons. For drifting enthusiasts, the N Drift Optimizer offers adjustable settings for initiation, angle, and wheel spin, enabling tailored drift control.

Together, these technologies showcase Hyundai N’s dedication to offering an exhilarating yet adaptable performance EV. Alongside the launch, Hyundai will offer a suite of N performance parts, allowing drivers to further personalize and enhance their IONIQ 6 N for both street and circuit driving.
