ThunderPlus launches 120 kW Fast-Charging Station at Prasads IMAX in Hyderabad

ThunderPlus has launched a 120 kW fast-charging station at Prasads IMAX in Hyderabad, bringing EV charging to a high-footfall destination while supporting the city's growing charging infrastructure.

ThunderPlus has launched a 120 kW fast-charging station at Prasads IMAX Mall in Hyderabad, expanding the city’s EV charging infrastructure and bringing high-speed charging closer to everyday consumer destinations.

The new charging station combines high-capacity EV charging infrastructure with a premium mall location, enabling electric vehicle users to charge their vehicles while watching a movie, dining, shopping or spending time at the mall.

The installation at Prasads IMAX is designed to integrate EV charging into customers’ regular journeys by placing the infrastructure at a destination where visitors already spend considerable time.

As EV adoption continues to grow, charging infrastructure at commercial and recreational destinations such as malls can provide users with greater convenience by allowing charging to take place alongside their existing activities.

The new 120 kW fast-charging station further strengthens ThunderPlus’ charging network in Hyderabad and supports the development of more accessible EV charging infrastructure across the city.

Kundurthy Pavithra, Youngest Woman Investor, ThunderPlus, said, “Entering the EV charging business at this stage of my career has been an exciting opportunity to participate in a sector that I believe has significant potential. I chose ThunderPlus because of its focus on building accessible and reliable charging infrastructure, while Prasads IMAX offered an ideal location given its strong footfall and the amount of time people naturally spend here. As a young woman entrepreneur, I see this as an opportunity to build a business while being part of the larger transition towards electric mobility.”

Raj Kumar Medimi, Director, ThunderPlus, said, “The future of mobility will not be shaped by technology alone, but also by the entrepreneurs who choose to build around it. Seeing one of the youngest women investors in our network step into EV charging is a significant moment for us. Her journey shows that the EV ecosystem is creating space for a new generation of women to move from being consumers of mobility to becoming the entrepreneurs building its infrastructure.”

The location of Prasads IMAX provides an additional strategic advantage. Situated in a highly accessible part of Hyderabad, the charging station is surrounded by several prominent landmarks and high-footfall destinations, including the Telangana Secretariat, Hussain Sagar Lake, NTR Gardens, Necklace Road, Lumbini Park and Tank Bund. This makes the station relevant not only to mall visitors but also to EV users travelling through and around this key central Hyderabad corridor.

The launch also reflects the evolution of EV charging from a standalone infrastructure requirement towards destination-based charging, where charging points are integrated into places consumers already visit. Such locations can help make charging more convenient by allowing users to utilise their existing dwell time rather than making a separate trip solely for charging.

By bringing together 120 kW fast charging, a premium mall destination and women-led entrepreneurship, the ThunderPlus station at Prasads IMAX demonstrates how strategically positioned charging infrastructure can support EV adoption while creating new avenues for entrepreneurs to participate in the electric mobility ecosystem.
