It features a cutting-edge electronics platform with four high-performance computers, delivering smarter performance, precise handling, and advanced automation for an enhanced driving experience.

BMW unveils the first series-production model of its revolutionary Neue Klasse—the fully electric BMW iX3. This next-generation Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) offers a bold new design, showcasing BMW’s cutting-edge innovation and redefining Sheer Driving Pleasure for the electric age.

Powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the new iX3 delivers an impressive range of up to 805 km (500 miles) and supports ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and long-distance capability.

Equipped with a state-of-the-art electronics and software platform, including four high-performance “superbrain” computers, the iX3 is smarter, faster, and more future-ready than ever. Its advanced “Heart of Joy” drivetrain and precision driving dynamics technology ensure an exhilarating driving experience, while the latest automated driving systems enhance seamless human-vehicle interaction. The new BMW iX3 marks the beginning of a transformative chapter in electric mobility.

A key highlight of the digital user experience in the new BMW iX3 is BMW Panoramic iDrive, which takes intuitive operation and driver focus—the hallmarks of the BMW brand—to an entirely new level. Complementing this is a comprehensive sustainability approach that reduces the vehicle’s carbon footprint by over 30% across its lifecycle compared to its predecessor.

The first Neue Klasse model will be manufactured at BMW Group’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary. Production of the fully electric BMW iX3 50 xDrive will commence in autumn 2025. This model delivers an impressive output of 345 kW (469 hp) with electric all-wheel drive, an electric power consumption of 17.9 – 15.1 kWh/100 km, a CO2 class of A, and a WLTP range of 679 – 805 km (421 – 500 miles) (provisional figures). Additional fully electric variants, including an entry-level model, will follow. The European market launch is scheduled for spring 2026, followed by the US launch in summer 2026. Simultaneously, a variant tailored for the Chinese market will begin deliveries from the Shenyang facility.

The new BMW iX3 represents a significant leap forward from its predecessor, going beyond a conventional model update. With groundbreaking advances in design and technology, it feels as though an entire vehicle generation has been skipped. For BMW Group, this launch marks a pivotal milestone in its ongoing transformation toward electrification, digitalization, and circularity. As the flagship of the Neue Klasse, the iX3 introduces customers to the latest innovations that will shape the entire BMW lineup in the years to come. Technologies developed for the Neue Klasse are set to be integrated into 40 new models and updates by 2027.

Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, comments: “The Neue Klasse is our most ambitious future project, representing a monumental leap in technology, driving experience, and design. Nearly everything about it is new, yet it embodies BMW more than ever. Our entire product range will benefit from the innovations of the Neue Klasse, regardless of powertrain. What began as a bold vision is now reality: the BMW iX3 is the first Neue Klasse model to enter series production. With it, we’re not only launching the next generation of one of our most successful fully electric vehicles, but also ushering in a new era for BMW.”

BMW iX3 Debuts New Design Language: Bold, Minimalist, Timeless

The new BMW iX3 introduces the brand’s next-generation design language—reduced, characterful, and timeless—which will define future BMW models. Drawing inspiration from BMW’s roots, the design blends modern aesthetics with classic identity, now protected by comprehensive design rights.

As the first BMW X model of the Neue Klasse, the fully electric iX3 features spacious SAV proportions, a sleek aerodynamic profile (Cd 0.24), and up to 1,750 liters of cargo space. Key design highlights include vertically-stacked BMW kidneys, a new light signature, flush surfaces, and strong sculpted lines that convey both elegance and athleticism.

BMW iX3: Fast, Smart, and Bidirectional Charging

The new BMW iX3, powered by sixth-gen BMW eDrive technology, supports ultra-fast DC charging up to 400 kW, adding 372 km of range in just 10 minutes and charging from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes. It also supports AC charging up to 22 kW.

For the first time, the iX3 features bidirectional charging, enabling Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functions—turning the car into a mobile power source or energy storage solution.

BMW offers expanded charging accessories, including a Multifunction Charger, BMW Wallbox Professional, and solar-optimized home charging. Intelligent features like AI-powered charging flap and multi-contract Plug & Charge integration enhance convenience, all manageable via the My BMW App.

BMW iX3 Interior: Digital, Spacious, and Driver-Focused

The BMW iX3 features a clean, modern interior design that emphasizes driver focus, digital innovation, and exceptional comfort for all passengers. Built on EV-specific architecture, it offers generous space, a minimalist “floating” instrument panel with ambient lighting, and an airy feel enhanced by large windows and an optional panoramic sunroof.

The cabin showcases the all-new BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X, immersive My Modes, and the bespoke BMW HypersonX soundscape. New seat, steering wheel, and center console designs offer both style and comfort, while interior material options range from sustainable Econeer and Veganza to high-end Merino leather.

Optional M Sport packages add dynamic flair, and the BMW Iconic Glow exterior package delivers a personalized welcome with coordinated light and sound sequences.

BMW iX3: Revolutionary Tech and Driver-Centric Innovation

The new BMW iX3 debuts BMW Panoramic iDrive, redefining the digital driving experience with a perfect blend of intuitive physical controls and advanced digital interfaces. Key features include the BMW Panoramic Vision (spanning the full windshield), 3D Head-Up Display, Central Display, and enhanced voice control via the upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Powered by Operating System X, the system offers deep personalization, seamless app integration (like Disney+, YouTube, Zoom), and real-time over-the-air upgrades via the ConnectedDrive Store.

Under the hood, the iX3 50 xDrive features sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, delivering 345 kW (469 hp), 0–100 km/h in 4.9s, and a top speed of 210 km/h. Its dual motor setup (EESM rear + ASM front) increases efficiency while reducing energy loss by 40% and charging times by 30%. The 108.7 kWh high-voltage battery with cylindrical cells enables a WLTP range of up to 805 km (500 miles), setting new standards for long-distance EV driving.
